My 325i used all of it's oil in 6 months. It turned out to be a slow leaking sump plug, discovered after I had it serviced and oil changed, after which oil started pouring out onto the garage floor the day I got it back.
Before I had the oil changed, the service indicator still had 1000's of kms left on it, but it was complaining that it needed 1 litre of oil. I noticed that the oil consumption was up, but then in a space of 2 weeks it went from 3 blocks of oil left to none on the display. If your car's behaviour is similar, I would get it checked out pronto. Since the sump plug was fixed, no oil use what so ever.

My graft was down half way from the max line. Took to dealer @ 3400 miles for first oil change. After change it's little over half mark not @ max line. Dealer says it's normal & not to be concern. Claims when it's down half way it's less than 1/2 qt.? I told him when I had my 06 330i @ 5000 miles was still @ max line. Dealer claims the turbo uses little more oil & no need for any concern? |

How coincidental, last night as I was coming home I got the low oil warning and the meter showed it on minimum. Ive had the car about 3 months and 6600 miles. Is there a dip stick to check the oil level visually in this car?

Turbo's use more oil? BS! My Ford Super Duty has 150,000 miles on a turbo the size of a basketball and my truck never uses any oil including the turbo. If it is using oil it is blowing it past the turbo seals and that is not a good thing.
Most manufactures will tell you that 1 qt every 1500 miles is normal. I think it is more of an indication of the bear in process and will taper off. LS-1 engines burn oil based on the type of oil used. My uncles 300hp Caddie has burned oil from day one and it is within GM specs. |
