BMW 335 cp vs. Audi S4
so last night i went out with my buddy to our little car meets that we have on saturdays and it was my first meet with my 335. i park my car and evreyone is looking at it and since i took the badge of they were asking me what it was and i told them. so anyways this kid in an Audi S4 with a chip intake and exhaust comes up to me and asks me if i would want to run him. so i accepted the challenge and went on the highway. we did two runs. the first run was from a 45mph roll and i honk three times and i went i punched it it looked like he stopped and i put a good 5 cars on him. so i slow down and we go again because i was surprised. same 45mph roll honk three times and we take off. all in all i beat by 6 and 1/2 cars i would say and i took all the way up to 140mph. sorry for no videos of this didnt have a camera with me. btw, my car is still stock so i dont know. i guess this proves that the 335 is one mean machine :rocks:

B5's looked nothing like the B6 or B7.
B5's were twin turbo's and if it was chipped would have run with you. I owned two B6 S4's and this car has no problem with them. The second one was modded to the hilt and it still didn't run like this can. But, if it was a properly modded B5, you would have known it. Shitty driver ? A 45mph roll....... If it was off the line, that could be it..... From a roll, you just punch it... no launch involved. Be safe...... kj |

Yes its regular to chip or reflash your b6-b7 s4. S4's dont have much after market mods, so every little thing counts. I use to have one and they arent as fast as everyone thinks.
Reason being I got a 335i instead of the new 07 s4. I use to be a vw/audi guy for years but, audi just needs to step up their game in the speed department. An e46 m3 will walk all over it stock for stock. In order to keep up with a e46 m3 you need good amount of bolt ons. That and being the tunners for the s4 never came out with a supercharger was upsetting. ( excluddings MTM's s/c which is 20k) Now in the other hand a b5 s4, (twin turbo 2.7L) will put up a really good fight with just chip and exhaust.

06 Audi s4 Curb Weight 3,825 lbs. Horsepower 340 @ 7,000 RPM Torque 302 @ 3,500 RPM 07 Bmw 335i coupe Curb weight 3571 lbs. 300/5800 hp (realistically around 330) 300/1400-5000 lb-ft (realistically around 340) Not trying to talk crap about the s4, its just a slower car thats all. Trust me Ive owned a b5 s4 and a b6 s4. And the v8 s4 compared to the 335i isnt as fast. Maybe feels faster because of the stiffer suspension but its not.

I had a B5 S4 chipped/Exhaust. Now I don't have my 335 yet (this week) but from looking at the #'s posted for the 1/4, I would think it would be a decent race Stock 335 Vs chipped S4. Haven't seen any blown turbo posts yet..yay!

Owner of both... still think my S4 would take my 335 in that situation. 335 is fast, but S4 has more grunt. I expect that was a v6 turbo S4... not the V8.

It started with 300, then 310, 320, now it is 330. Maybe they hid extra two cylinders in there and will reuse it for the m3 and spec it at 420? the differences should be so small that the smallest driver error would effect it. So, 6-car length or so is probably not an expected outcome... |

Are you serious...So the car magicly does the 1/4 in 13.3, and dynos anywhere from 270-290 rwhp (on dyno jets). Ya ok... There are many dynos already that have the car making that much hp. I have a friend that has a e46 m3 bone stock and from rolls from 40mph all the way up to 140mph ( let off) I stick it with him neck and neck. And ya I dont think it would have been 6 CL's either probably more like 1, no arguments there. I never implied that the 335i would beat it from a roll by 6 CL's just said that the 335i is faster. Thats from personal experiance.

Actually most stock dynos, especially the ones on this site, have been around 286 RWHP( the same power put down by automobile magazine)....

look if it was a B5 with a chip and exhuast the train is gonna come back....... unless it was an auto? because a B5 S4 with chip/exhaust is over 300hp and is a beast in a way the 4.2s cant hang.
2.7t B5 S4 4.2 B6 S4 4.2 B7 S4 last two are the same engine and make similar power. at a launch though either car will destroy a BMW till ~70mph, this ofcourse average to average drivers racing. V8 S4s arent what they are made out to be in the straight line...... just arent
