Great car IMO best of the E60's. It probably rides better than an E92 too!

Try a Jag XF S too, slightly slower but more agile.

More comfotable that the 3er with much better ride and damping (could be partly due to the Goodyears).

Trade off is obviously and only slightly in agility and pace. But not as bad as you think due to Alu body, so only about 100kg heavier.

The gap in agility is actually quite significant IMHO

Spec secret, on the 5 MSports, make sure it's got the optional 19" spider wheels on it and not the standard 18's.

The 18's are runflat with the well documented issues that brings but 19's are non runflats with a spacesaver spare wheel.

They give a fantastic drive and look really good too!

That's interesting info stupot. Do you know whether any of the E92 wheel options also result in you getting non runflats with a spacesaver (other than the M3's which I know do not come with runflats)??

We have a near-5 year old example as a pool car.
Was DMS'd at 2,000 miles, now has circa 120k miles under it's wheels.
Still goes like an absolute rocket, but cruises silently - fantastic car.

All I woud say is remedial repairs out of warranty can be expensive if you put everything through a main dealer.

This is the only car we run that isn't less than 3 years old; we will never run a car outside of a warranty again, definitely get yourself an extended BMW warranty for pace of mind and minimal wallet bashing.

Ditto the remarks about the 19's. Best looking OEM wheel this side of a CSL rim.

There are plenty out there to choose from - so be picky, hang on for a mega spec version. Ours has plenty of boxes ticked, including heads-up display - try and find one with this spec'd, it's great.

Fantastic car. My old man had one in 05. Not many peppe knew much about them then. Suprised a few M3's and Evo's on the roll.

Still look fantastic today. Proper love the headlights. A car that made
me fall in love with modern BMW's at the time.

Ditto all positive comments above - and the 19" spiders are an absolute MUST - looks awesome in carbon black when super clean - head up display is uber cool - go very very well for a 4 door lump and can obviously be easily fettled - perfect family wagon that still oozes style and finesse and is 100% on my car choice list next when Louisa is close to dropping!! Personally i would recommend paying that little bit more and getting into a face-lift model - slightly better engine and nicer interior/ergonomics.

Yeah, I think the facelift came with the E92's 286HP lump rather than the older 272ish HP.

Thanks. As you can see the badge has fallen off. I think the 520d badges are attached with weaker glue compared to the 535d!

Well spotted!

Only because I think it looks better you understand.

I am aware of everyone's touchiness to the tailpipe issue!

I should have kidded on I was thinking of doing the pipe at either side look to see how quickly I would be shot down!

The 535d does not have one either side. It had the same as you have there.

The new F10 535 M Sport has got the pipes like the 335d, but with a few extra horses and 0-60 of 5.7!

Not bad a for a car that size, will be tempted myself in a few years time when i need something a bit more family orientated!
