The Mustang has been blowing away the Camaro in all the rag reviews. It's quicker, faster, handles better, and better fuel economy. The Ford Racing parts are a big plus as well.

Reviewers have claimed the Mustang to be the better buy in basically every aspect. It has a usable trunk, better sightlines, better hp/lb ratio, better gearbox, better interior, and it's more agile.

What they said. I never thought I'd say this but I'd go with the Mustang. I think they got it right this time.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ford is all that is left in Detriot in a few years from now. I don't know about the v6 variants but the Mustang GT came very close to beating the M3 in a recent R&T video. Regardless of your personal bias and any ulterior motives R&T may have, that is impressive.

Just drove a mustang v-8 412 hp
not very impressed, the V8 costs the same as the 328i But not worth it, poor shifter, engine isn't very responsive, ...handling is soft for that price v-6 might be worth it though at its lower price. edit: I drove a v8 mustang, not sure if its the GT...but whatever it was, it wouldn't even be able to compete with a 328 for driving pleasure, manual gearbox, and handling, and overall satisfaction...it is pretty fast though - pickup didn't seem much faster than a 335 |

Go with the Ford... they are miles ahead in terms of current technology. Their bus system in the vehicle is as good as any german or japanese manufacturer so electronics are reliable. Their build quality is tight and the interiors are definitely stepped up.
I think the overall styling is a lot cleaner too. Couldn't imagine driving a camaro everyday. As for maintenance on the mustang, its brakes and oil changes. They are known to be reliable. |

Coming out in late 2011 is a new Boss 302 edition. Ford claims it is the first non-SVT car to pull more than 1 G stock. More H/P, lower suspension, new springs and sway bars, etc. Sounds like they raided the GT500 parts bin and came up with a very good combination.

I know that many people won't agree with me and all the reviews favor mustang but Camaro for me.
I favor the better ride and better looks of Camaro then mustang's better track numbers, better interior and better practicality. . Actually forget all that,it's the looks of Camaro that mesmerized me . It's one mean looking muscle car ![]()

V6 cars, second thoughts
The other posts are correct about the V8 Ford, but you mentioned V6. Both the camaro and the mustang are 'modest' in the V6 flavor. I have recently had both as rental cars. The performance is just not there with a six; the bodies are too big and heavy and the suspensions are 'basic'. You would probably be disappointed with either of those cars in 6cyl flavor if you expect them to drive like sports cars.
So you can either lower your expectations a lot, or find a lighter, more agile 6-cylinder car. Depending on budget and your other requirements, lots of cars might work including a used Boxster or a VW GTI or R32; a 370z; various Acuras; it's a long list. Do some research. For supporting evidence, here's a quote from Car and Driver on the v6 mustang: FYI the 370z gets 350HP from its 3.7-liter DOHC 24-valve V6. Last edited by blender; 08-29-2010 at 11:04 PM.. |

I'd take the Mustang. Looks better inside and out IMO (Grabber Blue is hot), it's faster, and handles better.
Camaro comments from C&D's comparo: "Mass plus big gear spacing plus the tallest rear end in the group equals relatively sluggish performance: distinctly slower than the Mustang in the sprints. Handling responses were equally indifferent. Softer spring rates and slow steering made the mountain-road pursuits too much like work...no test driver wrote the word 'fun' in the Chevy’s logbook." vs for the Mustang: "The surprise was what this Mustang could do on mountain roads. Where the GT was nimble, the V-6 was eager, with a lighter touch and better balance...this car was the dancing champ on the high roads of the Los Padres National Forest, one of the most involving production Mustangs in our experience." http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests See also R&T's twin twin test: http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/co...rd-mustang-v-6 |
