Problems with the 320i again, trade in for something else?
Good afternoon chaps,
Yesterday, driving home from shopping with the Mrs, the car started to vibrate like hell, and i could feel it even more through the pedals. So I call out Green Flag after limping home as it wasn't far. Looks like its misfiring..AGAIN!!!! This is the third time in 4 months this car has been into BMW, and its doing my nut it now . Every time it goes into the dealer, they fix the coil pack, injector and give it a software update but it never lasts. Plain and simply, I've had enough now. I really don't know what to say when I go in with it tomorrow morning? Out of all the cars I've had, this one has been the most problematic. Should I trade it in?Just not sure what I'd get if I did. I know it's a pretty well known fault with the 320i engine, so if anyone has experienced this and sorted it out, I'd be glad to hear from you. Any advice and opinions appreciated. Scott |

Mine has just been fixed for the same issues, I'm looking at an A5 on Wednesday for a possible trade in. If all goes well this will be my forth and final BMW, I've had enough with their dealerships

I have to agree. There's just no way I can afford to insure and drive the 6 cylinder models, so it looks like itl be an Audi or a VW if I do decide to get rid of it.
Such a good car, hindered by the 2.0l 4 cyl engine and poor dealership service. I never get a courtesy car, or reimbursed for the £50 in taxis I've had to pay to get to and from the dealership. I get made to feel like I'm an idiot for taking the car back, and I've had enough now. |

If car gives you nothing than a headache, get rid of it.
I have 318i 2.0ltr petrol, touch wood no 320i problems so far 84k on clock. Seems to be only 320i are badly effected. Just dont understand , same engine bit more power, and so many issues. Go for 320d

Did you buy the 320i from new? Problem with trade in is that you are going lose out, but dont blame you wanting "out" of the vehicle...

I'm getting paranoid now having bought a 320i a month or so ago and THEN finding the forum.
A Sep 2008 car (Efficient Dynamics version) with 11,000 miles on the clock - when can I expect my world to start falling apart! |

Don't worry too much. People generally post about problems on forums. Maybe 99% of 320i's are fine.

Its trading it in and finding something else that will keep me happy that's preventing me from doing it.
I'm 20, and thinking hot hatch again. Golf Gti maybe, Scirocco or Clio 200. All cheaper to buy than the 320i, so maybe start looking for one. Also a possibility of me losing my job, so I need to be careful with what I do next. Such a headache.... |
