Some real scumbags in my area...
SO! I thought I would come on here to have a rant!
In the last 2 weeks - 6 cars had their tyres slashed locally (ALL their tyres) - Then my wife's driver side window was smashed in, thieves found nothing - And now my BMW's headlight wash cover appears to have been pulled off! Saw 2 springs hanging out of a hole where the headlight wash should be, looks like it has been pulled out. The washer still works, just looks awful! Pics attached Time to move area I think! p.s. I'm in Ilford, Essex |

Used to live nearish in the Docklands but had secure parking - no problems.
Then moved to Bristol - a nice area but street parking. No end of problems (attempted theft, vandalism, etc) and lost a lot of sleep and time trying to find a secure garage to rent. If you can't find secure parking, I'd move the car on. Harsh but it's only a car. If you've had this much cr4p already, it'll just get worse. Get something "invisible" until you can find secure parking. The Astra we replaced the other car with (newish Golf R32), despite being top of the range (if such a thing exists with an Astra!) at the time, it never got touched. |

The video isn't available anymore - what was it of? Haven't contacted my local dealership yet, been really busy with work, but hopefully will be a quick job. Wafik - I live near the shopping centre - relatively quiet, but recently the amount of car crime has been stupid! I renewed my car insurance a few days ago - I'm guessing the crime and uninsured drivers in the area is why it was a few hundred quid more than last year! (£1400!!!!). Average price quoted was around £2000 - ridiculous. creepycoupe - I hope it is do to with trick or treat, but highly doubt it. I'll have a real treat for someone the day I catch them doing sh*t to my car. 335diesel - I love my car too much!!! But, if downgrading means having more money for a deposit on a house, might have to consider it. |

Believe me, so did I - if I'd caught the feckers that trashed my R32, I would probably now be locked up. It's just not worth it! Only got a decent car again when we moved to the sticks. Until then, we ran a pretty dull Astra. It worked fine but never felt at all special but hey ho, we survived!

Sadly I'm pretty local to you too....not surprising. The area was great when we moved there some 20 years ago (I was a kid then) but it's gone steadily downhill ever since...

Probably someone who lost theirs and was so cheap they felt appropriate stealing from someone else's car, trouble is there are many youngsters who do that sort of thing.
Ilford is otherwise ok and is far from the worst part of the country, far from it, but has been steadily going a bit downhill. Fortunately I live just outside where things are definitely better but again not as great as they used to be. By the way there have been stories of these covers randomly popping off when being used, so that might be one possibility. Hope you get it rectified soon. |

fcukin scumbags....i duno why there isn't any harsher punishment for crimes in this country?....
if some c8nts get caught, they should be tortured/ or have corporal punishment.... I think in Singapore, if you got caught littering, u get canned..... Result...the streets are free from garbage!!!!.....and everywhere is clean!!!... |

But they don't so we have to suffer. And if we DO catch them which is very unlikely, and dish out justice, we get locked up, they get a ticking off after recovering.
That's the way of the World and it took a lot of anguish to realise that - desirable cars become targets and the attacks get worse - unless you get secure parking, you are up sh1t creek. It's just not worth the hassle. |

My mates live there - it appeals to me as much as cheesegrating my nuts then dipping them in vinegar.

Have you actually tried it? It's not as bad as it sounds to be honest.

Nope - I spent a few hours there in an airport while in transit from NZ - that was enough.
Just sounds very odd - expat community, ruled by a sort of dictator, no crime yet my mate got his leg broken after answering back to a bloke who was trying to pull his wife; the guys who did it didn't even get arrested and numerous other things that just don't feature in my idea of a good life. Oh and cars are HORRENDOUSLY expensive too. Nope. |
