This is what they quoted me for a 3rd party warranty

My 07 e92 335i is at 57,000 miles...

I called my local BMW dealership today to discuss the options of purchasing a third party warranty, there is a lady at my dealership who sells them.

* The company : Western General
* Premium Package : $4,130 (covers same as OEM warranty)
* Gold Plus Pacakge : $2,646 (covers almost same as OEM warranty minus some parts like AC Condenser ect..)
* Deductible : $100

Payment plan is as follows:

* 10% down, no interest payments for 12 months.

Warranty good for 2 years or 24,000 Miles.

What do you guys think? She said I should move fast, after 60,000 miles the policies get more expensive. I think it's a little too pricey in my opinion, but I am looking for a good 3rd party warranty that I could purchase...anyone here have any suggestions or input?

shop around man,

i went with warranty direct with their premium (covers nav ,etc... should be everything or close to it) deductable was $50... warranty was for 8 yrs (from new) or 75k whichever came first (so in 2015 it expires)

total price was around 3300 if i recall .

with aftermarket warranties its not soo much about price its about them being there when you need them.

Just curious, is the warranty honored at your BMW dealership?

I would pass and take my chances for the next two years if something happens. Worse case you have the money on hand just in case. Could be good or bad depending on how much you have to spend.

Agreed, 2 years is too little for 4.5 K

for that money I'd expect at least 4 years of after market coverage

3K for 4 years sounds right.

Also look into the Ford extended warranty that is sold. It has really good consumer ratings and is exclusionary. There was a really good thread os these warranties a couple of months ago, you might want to search for that or if I get some more free time I will and post the link. Very informative.

He's at 37,000 miles now. Assuming that he drove 15k miles per year for another 4 years (the length of the warranty), the math would be: 37,000 + (15,000 * 4) = 97,000 miles on the car by the time the warranty expires.

IHSANSHAIK has a e90 which he bought in 2005. He has a warranty which covers him after his 4 years 50 thousand miles warranty is up from BMW, which covers him for 9 years 100 thousand miles.

He has 37,000 miles. He uses on average 15,000 miles a year. His warranty (new 3rd party) is in affect. calculating his final mileage after his warranty is over, he will have 97,000 miles which is still covered. here is the math. 37,000+15,000= 52,000(after 1 year) 52k+15k=67k (2nd year) and so on.

Here's another:

And a third specifically about the Ford ESP:

All with good info about costs, coverages and the like. Better to be informed prior to purchase! Good Luck.

I had warranty direct for my M3. They happily took it at every BMW dealer I visited. I opted against for the e90 since they are too expensive now. So far so good, almost a year out of warranty and only needed a $40 part. Hopefully I'll be just as lucky over the next year.

have warranty direct for my 04 X5, had to fight with them over a period of 8 months to get reimbursed for an approved claim. Actual claim process, through a BMW dealer service dept, was quick and painless, receiving payment for it...not so much.

I ended up filing a complaint with the BBB and the NY state insurance dept (their headquarters are in upstate NY), to which they actually responded immediately.

My SA told me today that the Carmax warranty was actually pretty good.
Was like 3k for 60k miles above the standard so extends to 110k miles and covers everything except brakes, wheels tires and maint.. oh and wear and tear things like belts and interior, paint, bulbs etc...
