Mirror settings changing on their own?
Yesterday, I went out, got ready to drive away, and noticed BOTH side mirrors pointed at the ground, and moved laterally, as well.
After fiddling with them, the settings are good again, and have remained so after several stops/starts. This is the second time this has happened. Any clues? |

First week i had my car, i was going down a hill at night. (~50mph)
I checked my left mirror and there was nothing in it. (i literally mean nothing-figured it was the "auto dimming" mirrors). As i hop the lane border, i glance at the side window and realize i'm about to side swipe a white SUV. I was confuzed and a little shaken. (i was still on my learner's permit) Checked my mirrors at a red light and found that they were both pointing straight down at the ground |

I had a similar problem. Dealer ended up replacing the complete passenger mirror.
"When the unlock signal is sent to the car, a mirror position self-check is performed. One of the factors in determining the mirror's present position is an expected resistance value in the circuit. Due to a higher than expected resistance, the Footwell Module (FRM) calculates the mirror position incorrectly. The mirror is then moved to what is believed to be the correct position" http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/...p/b513608g.htm |
