They replaced my injectors, and it still misfires...

Sort of a rant here folks.

I've taken my car in multiple times and I've only had the thing 6 months. It's thrown codes, check engine lights, misfires like a mad man, but has not cut off while driving. However, that's not my beef.

My beef isn't even taking it in to get fix. My problem is, when I go in, and they do a software fix on one occasion, replace injectors on another, and 2 days later it misfires like no other with a rough idle, and now I have this completely obvious new knocking noise when starting up. And thus my light bulb has switch on...

I have a feeling that BMW has no idea how to fix my car and probably most likely yours as well. So frustrating. I'm just waiting for an e-mail or phone calling tell me I've bent my valves and I've melted all 6 pistons...

Have you tried taking it to a different dealer for service?

Then that would mean you'd get yourself a brand new engine....
This is good.

Seriously though, it'll all get fixed. Patience. You'll look back on all this as a little speedbump.

The nearest is an hour away, and I'm in Southern CA too. The next time it goes in and has some problems, I might take it out of town.

Does anyone know if they've officially release the service bulletin for the recall? When I took mine in last time, he said they hadn't received any instructions from BMW yet.

There are two banks of injectors. Maybe they just did one and now the other bank is going bad.

Spoken like a true optimist!

It did take me repeated visits over 6 mos., but the car has been good for 7 mos. now. There is hope, but it's such a darn shame there is no hope without getting in the SA's face and shouting at him in front of other customers and employees alike. There's no Mr. Nice Guy when it comes to BMW, so unfortunate.

Here's the issue with that, and I'm glad that your okay with it. But mine is 6 months old. I would not be okay with a rebuilt motor from BMW. I want one factory built, not joe blow in the back with his torque wrench. Maybe that's frustration, but to me this is my mode of transportation AND my hobby.

And lets be honest. When I go to sell this car, and it has a rebuilt motor as 7000 miles showing on the maint sheet, would you guys buy it from me? Or go down the street and pick up a car that hasn't had as many issues?

Have the valves been cleaned / checked for carbon build up? (result of DI)

You could always call BMW NA to start a buyback like everyone else on here.

Or, take it to another dealer and refuse to take it home until it's fixed.

Took my car in today and they weren't very receptive. He question why I brought the car in since it didn't have a check engine light. I mentioned that it barely starts and has a rough idle.

I'm not sure if they've checked for that yet, they haven't mentioned it and I don't see it on any of the maint slips. Is that common at 7000 miles though?

I love my car, so to sell it back would be horrible. But at the same time, I don't want a car at 30K miles when it's giving me so many at 5-7K. Is the buyback process fair or is it to BMW's advantage?

Small update.

They said that my vehicle threw no codes, and that when they started the vehicle it ran perfect, even on a cold start. So, they used the words "costly gamble for BMWNA and the dealership" to go ahead and just replace parts if they didn't know what was broke.

To me, they can't waste their precious money on fixing my problem, but they can waste mine by proving me with a car that starts up like a 86' Ford Taurus. Mind you, I brought it in twice already for the same issue and they performed a software update, and then replaced my injectors. Same problem still after 2 months. Next dealer here I come.

Would BMWNA do anything if I wrote them?

How about a home-made video of the problem in the morning--if they can't seem to replicate the issue?

You could use a glass of water like in the old Jurassic Park movie. You know, to show the vibrations from the T-Rex....err rough engine.

Funny you mention that sir, really good idea. I actually am going to bust out the HD iphone video every time I start my car up to show them. Just kinda funny/ridiculous that I have to resort to that. Video is good enough for them, but my word isn't haha.

Thank goodness Friday is here.

Most dealerships assume their clientele are morons. Sad but true. They're right well over half the time, at least regarding cars. Also sad but true.

Thus, they look at any claims from someone they don't know with raised eyebrows.
Err...sad but true.

I'm trying to be nice and civilized, but it's frustrating. I even asked about the recall fix and he said they can't perform it at this time. So essentially, this guy said to wait until it happens again and then bring it back, but thats exactly what I just did. My car had the problem, I bring it in and they say nothing is wrong with it as if I'm making some story up. Who would possible go through the hassle of doing such?

I feel like they've put me in the position that I need to prove my problem to them, which just seems like nonsense.

PS, I'm gonna stop my madness ad just enjoy the weekend

im not ok with it. at least it not being rebuilt. they're dropping in a new motor.
btw. im a foreman for a large GM dealer so I understand the balancing act the dealers play with the manufacturer. if this thing was being rebuilt i would definately make sure it was back with a "window" in the block!

I feel for you. You were me in Oct. '09. Car died twice for no reason, I figure I better go to the dealership so they could fix it. Nothing to fix. Don't know what to tell you is what they said. This would continue for 6 mos. At the end they had the seats out, carpet out, checking the what is it optical bus for breaks?

Just feel glad that you have an honest living. You wouldn't really want to be them and lie and pretend nothing is wrong and give people lame excuses all day long. The SA probably wants to say hey I barely passed HS, what do you want from me anyway?
