Local tuner for coding?
I've been searching for weeks and can only find the DIY techies running programs, diagnostics, and more troubleshooting than actual coding. Can someone point me to a local (DC area) shop that can do some simple creature comfort coding for me? I was at the dealership last week for programming a new key and they wouldn't let me get any coding done.
Thanks in advance, Scott

Not sure if they can help, but it's a start. Located on Gude Dr in Rockville.

Found a guy today and got it taken care of this afternoon. Found him on e46 fanatics. Thanks for the suggestions.

Scott, who is it? What kind of stuff did you get done? I like the stuff I see online like turning off the parking lights inside the headlights, folding the mirrors with CA and auto unlocking all the doors when the car turns off. How much also? PM me if you want.

Sure, his name is Shane and He's BMW_Knight on the E46 site. Turns out he had a 'group buy' at Katies Coffee last weekend that I missed out on. A buddy from 6Speed tipped me to him. No phone number, just did PMs and met him an hour later it was that easy.
Activated the alarm I installed, windows up with lock, windows down with unlock, three click turn signal, lock doors upon moving. My M wounldn't let him turn off my sidemarkers. He also found the fault code for my seat swap which was different than what the guy I bought them form had told me. No biggie, I expected an issue. He granted his posted price of $50 for coding and $25 for airbag stuff. We were done in under 10 minutes. He works just below Columbia on Rt 29, about 15 minutes from me. If you aren't a member on e46, let me know and I can get a phone number from him for you guys.

Interesting. My car does most of that stuff from the factory, but I'll have to find some other stuff I might want to change. That's a good price too.
How tough was the alarm install? Still thinking about that one and the idrive ipod interface. |

Alarm kit for my car is a $40 part from Tischer that has the hood latch and the siren. A total of 30 minutes to install both. You will have the chirps (lock & unlock) immediately upon install, but won't get the alarm sound until it is activated by the coding. Not sure about your model whether you're pre-wired or not. If you have chirps you're half way there.

Awesome. I might have to pm him. The side mirror fold on lock is a feature I hoped BMW would have coded in. Thanks for the tip!
