yellow goo from holes at bottom of door
My car has a weird hard yellowish goo that is coming out of the drain/weeping holes in the bottom of the doors. There is a similar goo under the hood. It can be chipped off/cleaned but it is a pain. What is this stuff?
Thanks! |

The yellow goo was put there intentionally and will keep your car from rusting to pieces. Just clean it off as it shows itself. I know BMW has been using this since 1989, probably much earlier, because it was on my 325is.

It's used to prevent rust...
Please wear gloves when cleaning... its highly toxic and corrosive ppp

If anyone else is having problems getting this off, I found that a very mild citrus based degreaser loosened it enough to come off the paint. You'll need to rinse off and re-wax that section of body panel but it seemed to do the trick. (I would try to avoid spraying degreaser where the goo is coming from though - I figure that stuff was sprayed in there for a reason :-) ) |

Guys, there are all kinds of home remedies to remove Cosmoline but this one works the best. A bottle of this should come with every new BMW.

the only way to keep rust off is for the protectant to be corrosive. if the protectant wasnt corrosive the rust would just grow on the car. ppp
