Disable trunk release?

Hey so I had my car broken into last week, and the next morning after I clean everything up and get going to work I get the "trunk ajar" warning. Not only did the d-bag rummage through my interior, but he also decided to check my trunk for goodies too.

Thankfully I don't leave valuables in the ride, but it got me thinking. The interior trunk release button is electronically activated.. is there a relay or connection that one could disable?

Without that button, the vehicle's owner could still release the trunk either electronically with the fob, or manually with the key, however someone without the fob could not easily gain entry to it. It would then be a pretty secure area to keep your goods when shopping or whatever. As it stands, it just takes one press of a button to get into once someone is in the vehicle. Thoughts/ideas on this?

I thought you can flip that switch in the glove box and disable the trunk release in the car so the only way to open it is by using the keyfob

yup, hit the switch in your glovebox and then lock your glovebox.

So yep it turns out that flipping the glovebox switch disables the trunk release button in the footwell (good) but also disables the keyfob button (bad). I don't want the interior trunk release button functioning, but I *do* want the fob working. Ideas?

At least you have a trunk keyhole, that is one of the things they "decontented" and if you forgot that you disabled it, you have to remember to go and unlock it from the glove box now.

The trunk disable is primarily for use when Valet parking your car, not for keeping thieves out of your trunk. In that case you wouldnt want your key fob to operate the trunk because it goes with the valet. I guess BMW figures that a thief who can break into the car wouldnt have much of a problem gettin into your trunk.
