2011 335xi Vs Vette
So I have a 2011 335xi 6speed and stock also. And I'm driving down a major road by me, and this guy
Behind was in a vette not sure what year but looks anywhere from 08-2010. Car had exhaust Not sure what else. So this guy is trying to catch up me and he pulls next to me and just cruising and car Had to be stick bc he starts reeving right next to me. I am minding own business windows open cruising. We both pull up to read light and this guy had to be late 30's maybe and he starts reeving I'm like F it. turn traction off, give it a little rev light turns green and bam both take off. Right off bat I took it off the line. I was on point rippping through gears, can hear me exhaust popping everytime I shifted. I was ahead little less then Half a car until 80. From 80 till 110 was rpetty much neck and neck at 110 both shut it down. I was surprised and sure this guy Was also thinking he was gonna take me. I know vette's are quick stock 335 sticking with a vette hmmm Can't wait for the JB to come then next time I know def will take a vette. Another one else with a stock 335 go agiainst a vette ?? |

AWD helped you on that launch. Surprised he didn't pull forward after 60 though.
Good run... hope those streets weren't crowded. On another note... can't wait to get my 2011...

base c6 vette will probably kill an m3 and z06 is in Ferrari-class.
LSD helps vette on a launch (grip no extra weight), AWD would be more of a disadvantage in this particular scenario (grip + 200lbs of extra weight) so unless you are running 4.0 second flat 0-60, you will not likely to beat even the base vette Last edited by Kolyan2k; 11-20-2010 at 09:43 AM.. |

There's always one..
I have both an 07 Corvette Z06 and a 2011 335i coupe 6sp. Please don't label all Vette owners like that guy,, most are really good... the 335 is quick but not enough to take a C6 Corvette. By the sound of it, this guy couldn't think or drive to save his life! Both cars are awesome but in totally different classes. |

I wouldnt go that far. A modified 335i will beat a base corvette, and the M3 would be pretty close. And the ZO6 is no where close to competing with ferraris. The new 599 GTO kills the ZR1. A 335i with new turbos and full bolt ons could hang with a ZO6. I mean, when I install my mods this weekend my car will have almost as much WHP as a base corvettes BHP.

The C6s are around 0-60 mid-4 seconds, quarter in the low 12s. Quite a bit faster than a stock 335. http://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/cor...08/review.html (and these guys always post slower numbers than others)

And also I would never take a base vette over a M3. Or a *stock* base vette over a 335i.'' Where are you getting the information that a modified 335i is not reliable though? Because that is completely wrong in most cases. |

Base vette > 335i JB3/PROcede > M3 > ZO6 > ZR1 > Ferrari 599 GTB > Ferrari 599 GTO
Sense you want to talk about BMW's, Corvettes, and Ferrari's Calling BS on OP though, video or it never happened. |

well, base Vette is pretty much equals in performance to M3 and most likely even better, is more reliable and has pretty good MPG, thats why I would take base Vette over 335i any day. M3 vs Base C6, then i would have to think about it. |

It all really comes down to preference. I just prefer the 335i, I had the option of a base corvette but chose this. I do wish I would have waited another year, I could have gotten a ZO6.

but a Vette can easily last 100k+ miles, can your JB3 335i ? probably not. And its not just the power, Vette has LSD, and sportier suspension then 335i...that would set you another 3.5-4k dollars to upgrade parts on 335i |

My only issue with the Corvette is the stigma attached to it:
"Hey man, how's that mid-life crisis thing going for you? Oh, and your hairpiece flew off back down the road." "Hey dude, what's up with all those big gold chains around your neck?"

I dont really mind the stereotype's. I just prefer german engineering, which is why I purchased my car. After all, it is the ultimate driving machine.

would i run and buy Vette....no (maybe), i have other things to worry about other then pure performance. not that a Vette, especially base cant be a DD, it very much can. One of the reasons I bought 335 and not Cayman S, is because it wouldn't look good for my work....i dont want people at work to get pissed. And 335 is just an average mans DD and yet I like it. Thinking of M3, ISF, or maybe a Cadillac for my next car |

This goes to prove that the driver is FAR more important than all the stats that are referenced by people. Also, I would NEVER buy a corvette. Except maybe one of the old ones (pre 67). If you think the vette is that much better than the 335 you should go buy one (or the S4 or the litany of other cars you keep coming around here dogging BMW's for. Honestly, sometimes I wonder why you A)own a BMW and B)keep coming to the BMW forum to talk down the 335. If it makes you that sad sell it and buy one of the other pieces of crap you love so much <last couple sentences not directed at the OP>).
