Name a Modern Classic
This is a game where people nominate cars that are old enough to be out of production but new enough to be usable every day. They can cost only up to $50,000 and cannot be older than from 1980.
In short, something unique and hopefully not produced in the millions. My first choice will be an S2000.

Definitely the Corvette, NSX, Supra, R32-34 GT-R's, and the Dodge Viper (originally cost $45k), and Ford Mustang.

Affordable cars: -Any Porsche 911 is usually a classic later on -Audi R8 -Mercedes SLS AMG -BMW M3's usually become semi-classic -Ferrari 458 Italia -Lambo Murci and Gallardo will be classic -Agreed on the S2000, it already is a classic Below 50K: -any BMW 1 or 3 series tends to drive tight, so would be a classic...nice power train -Mini -S2000 -Subaru STI in a way -Porsche Boxster comes to mind There are enough cheap classics out there -- they usually need to be light and/or powerful and drive tight, thats about it. |

So rare. I don't think I've ever seen a VR4 on the road when these cars were being sold. Just like the 300ZX twin turbo...also a rare one. Definitely classics
Also the Porsche Boxster Spyder is going to be a rare one and a classic in 20 years in my opinion |

BMW E30 M3 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Honda S2000 (huge maybe) Several cars guessed started well over $50k, and still won't work. There will be no collectible V8 Ferraris - not the 360, 430, or 458 (nope, not even the Stradale and such). These cars will follow the same well-worn path as the 3x8 cars and the 355. The same applies to any entry-level platform Porsche - the 968, the 986, and the 987 will never be more than dirt cheap. The so-called special editions (Design Edition, Spyder, CS, R, etc) will decline as well, though we'll see deluded owners asking crazy money for them for years to come. |
