Not bloody happy... UPDATED**

Took my car in today to have the headlight washers replaced and also have the driver seat bolster replaced for the 2nd time in 6 months

Got there at 4pm to collect it and well what a load of bollocks they said they tested the washer fluid gods knows how and said its only protecting down to zero degrees which is a load of crap, you can put 6 ltrs of washer fluid in a x5 and 3 ltrs of it was neat washer fluid BUT what really pissed me off was they didn't have the parts anyway!!

Also even though I told them the seat bolster was the same as last time they ordered the wrong bloody part so all KNIGHTS SOUTH STAFFS BMW did today was Hoover the inside of my car

I've got to wait until Friday to see if BMW will do the headlight washers as good will and to top it off I had to drive a 116i se bag of nails for the day.

I'm really not happy if they refuse to pay 100% I'm complaining to BMW uk, the dealer principle and watchdog.

They said there is a part shortage on the washer units...wonder why

Shouldn't this be in the X5 section?

Sorry to hear that, I was thinking of using them instead of Benham in the future too.
I've had to write another letter to the dealer today....

Don't bother using them they are bunch of idiots...

You wouldn't think that a 55k car would fall apart like it has it's so bloody frustrating because otherwise it's brilliant.

I would suggest that washer fluid is tested by it's specific garvity. There is no doubt a run on washer pumps because the majority of people seem to use cheap washer fluid, which gums the works up, rather than BMW's own.
Personally, to be certain of being frozen-up free I am topping-up neat, you would be daft not to!

I don't mind when it's a wear part or I've done it myself but this is just bad design.

Surprised they did that without damaging something - they are very good at getting cars in without having the parts delivered though - did that to me on more than one occasion

I second that Paul - I dread my M3 ever breaking down around the Stafford area because BMW assist would have to recover it to Knight! I have vowed it will never put a tyre on their workshop floor

Isn't neat washer fluid bad for paintwork?!?

I guess it could be, if you splash it around on the paintwork.

Yup! If you were driving a BMW I would say try your local BMW dealership as I'm sure they sell a jack best for your motor, but as it’s a Gillard 10B do you really need a jack, wont a brick do?

If it's coming out of the washer (and headlight) jets, then I guess it will be splashing around the paintwork!

Seriously, windscreen washer fluid neat is OK. In fact, my local BMW dealership last week, recommended this, bearing in mind the bad weather that could be ahead.
I particularly asked, because previous bootles of BMW fluid I purchased, did not have the recomended mix ratio. I was curious.
Now they have a label on the bottle which show mix ratios going to full strength with no water.
No, it is anti-freeze coolant that is bad for paintwork.
Cheers!

Well the genuine BMW washer fluid recommends that you use it neat for the sort of temperatures we have seen in recent weeks.

Surely they would not do that if it trashed the paintwork.

Of course other washer fluid may be different although seeing that the BMW stuff is cheaper than Halfords own brand and actually works really well, why would you use anything else?

Ahh, if they say so then I guess that's OK! Must be another brand I am thinking of (Duco I think - recommended 25% in severe weather; 10% in summer - so must be pretty strong stuff!).

after sending an email to the DP, BMW UK MD and customer relations manager i've just had an call from the dealer principal saying BMW have changed their mind regarding my goodwill gesture and will be doing it FOC and the dealer has offered to give me his personal X5 for the day while they do mine.

I'm happy again
