Hit and Run! WTF
Alright guys I am SO MAD. My 5 series was just hit a few min ago. I just came back from a ten minute drive to 3 stores to get some items and I NOTICE THIS SHIT? OBVIOUSLY some dude hit my rear with his car and his license plate made FOUR UGLY dents in my rear bumper. How much would it cost to take out? Or should I get insurance involved and get mtech?
I detail and wash my car EVERY week. This shit happens? My car was keyed this summer too . EDIT-One of the "dents" came out easily...heated it up with hairdryer used CO2 that didn't work for the dings but it made it LESS noticeable. I need better pictures will take some tomorrow. Just sad now that I am cooled down just have to be more careful. Last edited by aretardedorange; 01-05-2011 at 09:20 PM.. |

Same thing happened to me when I just bought the car brand new within 2 month. I decided not to do it since a bunch of morons can't drive around here. 3 month later I have 2 more holes from the license plate. Now I am just going to leave it as is. Not worth the $ to fix since it is bound to happen again.

Why bother? I just adjusted some of the properties of the photo, and the person's license plate is imprinted on your bumper (its pretty faint though). Just file a report, and have insurance cover it.

Stuff like this makes me question having a nice car that I care about. Just the other day a guy in a TL dinged my door at work. I was looking at his car and the door handle was all scratched there were chips all down the side of the door and I'm like wasn't this a $40k car?? and it's treated like this?? Then when I file the report the cop says it's not that bad what's the big deal. Granted it was a small scuff but like the OP said I take really good care of my car, washed every chance I get, garaged kept, etc and I don't need some dill hole putting small scuffs anywhere in any size on my car!
Sorry for rant and sorry to hear about your issue. Hope you can get the guy who did it from the license plate.

My dad had similar damage that was about $1k to fix on a five series rear bumper.

Hate that, happened when I lived in an apt. complex and my Nissan was new. I never got it fixed because I was "afraid" of insurance....I have since learned that there is a threshold i.e. $ amt. where if you claim comp, it has no effect on rates...g/l

+1. Bumper replacement with paint, clear coat, labor, etc. is almost exactly $1K on a 335. Hopefully you'll be able to get the bumps out yourself, but if not, at least it was a rear bumper accident. It makes me think that your insurance will believe you when you say it's not your fault for what that's worth.

I used to live in DC and drove a 2002 Civic back then. I *never* backed into anyone but 3-4 people did tap my back bumper with their front bumper while parallel parking behind me and left a few round divots in it. It really pissed me off that people wouldn't know when to stop and would hit my car. It's even worse that it's the front (I can see a few people backing up and touching the car behind them if they don't know what they're doing).
Either way, I had to live with it and eventually moved out of the city. It sucks that it happened to your 5-er, tho. |
