center console tight seal
Has anyone found this feature to be desirable? The "hermetic" seal makes it very difficult to open. On the rare occasion I need to avoid condensation, I can open the console and/or dry with napkin (well actually on this design I can't!). Am I missing something?

i honestly dont know what you are talking about.... but i sure wish my center console would stay opened on its own, like the center console on my old e46.

It does....Just push it all the way back.... It bugged me for a while too until a member in here pointed out.... If you push it all the way back it will stay open...:-)

To the OP: The seal keeps the heat in from the heated/cooled cupholder.

i know that if you open the console ALL the way itll stay open, but i would prefer if it had a spring like on the E46, opens by itself.
and i have never had a problem with the OP |

Bump. Let me rephase to be clear.
I know that I can open the lid of the center console by raising it ~ 90 degrees and it locks into place. That was not my question. The push-in "button" is too tight and I'd rather avoid a regimen of finger curls, 3 sets 10 reps 3 times a week, to build adequate muscle mass. Someone mentioned that the hermetic feature is to keep my coffee warm. Maybe. Does anyone actually like this "herrmetic" feature? I figured that w/a little tweaking I can probably fix the problem myself at the expense of losing the seal, unless the coffee drinkers comes to its rescue |

I got the split armrest for my 330i and it came with a spring and small gear you can install that makes the armrest go up slowly when the latch is released. The spring/gear parts should work fine on the stock armrest but unfortunately they don't seem to be available separately and had no part numbers on the packaging. Maybe one of our european members can find out the part numbers.

I don't know if your problem is the same as mine though, sometimes i just press the armrest down a bit and push the button at the same time.
