BMW 335i Fuel Pump and Turbo Questions
Hey everyone,
I'm in the market for a used 335i coupe either 2007 or 2008 but I have a few questions regarding them. 1. The one I'm looking at has already had a fuel pump replaced. How much does this cost to replace again? 2. How frequently does the fuel pump/turbo failure occur per replacement? 3. Is it possible to purchase an extended warranty from BMW that will cover the fuel pump, turbo failures? If so what are the costs and terms? Thanks for your help |

Thanks for your reply. Does the HPFP warranty apply for BMW's in Canada as well? |

It doesn't matter if the fuel pump has been replaced, because if it was replaced pre-December 2010, then it's still faulty. Thankfully for you, the recall takes care of it

Just so you know, everything trackrat said about the warranty is incorrect since the hpfp recall takes care of all fuel pumps regardless of milage or year

Lost a turbo at 20K miles. I asked how much it would have cost to replace without the warranty. Was told not to ask. Asked again, was told around $4k. Makes the fuel pump look like chump change! Just bought the extended warranty because I plan on keeping the car a few more years. If I change my mind, it should make the car easier to sell to a private party. I paid 3K for the warranty. Will make money if the transmission or another turbo goes... Paul

HPFP failure doesn't leave you stranded. The engine still runs on significantly reduced power, but it doesn't leave you stranded on the side of the road.
