Seat memory activation by key

I have tried everything and I simply cannot get the drivers seat to move back to the memory 1 position when I unlock the door. In the menus, there is an option to have the seat move when you open the drivers door or when you unlock the doors - neither will work for me.

I do not have iDrive or comfort access... Thanks!

I hate to be this way but 1 call to the dealer would solve your problem. Asking here is going to start and endless thread with identical responses.

You have obviously had better dealer experiences than me. I don't think anything is broken - I just think I am too stupid to figure it out.

I am having the exact same problem! I also do not have idrive or comfort access. I also cannot get my 2 keys to remember seat settings. I asked dealer and they were no help.

FYI- the memory buttons on the seat aren't tied to the seat, but to the key.

Wow I'm surprised by this thread. I don't think the OP was asking anything unreasonable and I would suspect someone on here has the answer. Go to the dealer doesn't seem particularily helpful in this case unless of course it has to be done with some special tool or code that only they have. Going to the dealer is not always convenient for people and if I had a simple problem I could fix by reading on the internet (Like I did when my sunroof wouldn't close) (Thank you e90post!) it makes life a lot simpler.

Dealer wanted me to make an appointment, leave the car with them etc. etc. when the only thing that needed to be done was hold the button for 90 seconds. So ya, dealer, not always the most helpful.

OP I hope you will find your answer.

Agreed, it is good to ask questions but 1 PHONE call to BMW or a good dealership would solve this in 5 minutes. This thread was started yesterday am

Can you explain, step by step, how you did it. I don't want to be a smart a...., but sometimes you think you did everything according the manual, but in fact, you didn't. After you've written it down, compare it with your manual.
Maybe this will help. Mine works, therefore it is hard to guess what went wrong, or is wrong when you not present to watch.

Good luck.

Here we go....im going to try my other key today

I have my KEY#1 set for my preference (memory 1 & 2 - 1 for normal driving - 2 for more sporty)

KEY#2 is not used....so i will set a seat preference for that key and see if they adjust accordingly.

Question

I think the second page omits the first step - pressing the Memory button to get it in the Memory mode?

Again- all settings are tied to the key- not to the car.

Get in with your key, adjust your settings (seat M1 & M2, mirror, radio, door lock options, turn signal options, etc), and then used the control stalk to set Comfort Access settings to tie all of those things to your key (as per the manual). Then get out and lock the door and come back with the other key. Adjust all the settings to the other person's preference, go through all the computer settings on the stalk again, get out, lock the door. Then, take the first key, unlock the door and see if everything goes back to the first settings. If so, lock the door again and come back with the 2nd key. If everything works with the 2nd key, you're done.
