06' 330i battery replacement help please
Well I've searched & searched and found a lot of topics on the subject of battery replacement in cars but I still have questions and not every one has been covered.
My 06' 330i gave me the yellow battery logo last week & decided I might as well make the leap now as my car is going in for service at the end of the month. I've decided to go aftermarket as spending the quoted $300+ registration/labor at BMW doesn't make sense. Heres the deal, I searched Autozone's website and came up with two options. I checked the battery currently in my car and it said 720cca, so i'm not sure if I should go with the 770 or the 950 and if there are any issues either way. I have idrive, heated seats, and figure the more CCA's would be better since I have a lot of electric items. Any ideas on which I should go with? Also what about just getting an everlast battery at walmart? I am going tomorrow to see what they have, but I've read people getting them for around $80. I'm going to pay BMW to register it when its in for service so I am aware of that. Its just a matter of which battery should I get to replace my current OEM. Please any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm starting to get frustrated and need some sound advice. Thank You! |

I had a 950CCA battery in my car (fully loaded, heated seats, iDrive, etc) before I swapped it out for a braille lightweight battery. The braille only has a 550CCA rating but I have had no problems cranking in Jersey/Philly weather.
AGMs are able to provide better performance in cold weather though....apparently. Just make sure all the specs are the same as YOUR current battery. Or else you'll also need to get the car programmed....then registered. I had to program my car for a few reasons: Original battery was a lead acid, non-AGM, had a 950CCA rating, and a 90Ah rating. The braille I now have IS an AGM, has a 550CCA rating, and a 30Ah rating. The lowest Ah rating you can have programmed into the car is 65 (68?) Ah.....I had to program my car as a 70Ah AGM as that was the lowest AGM option available. If your car came from the factory with a 720CCA rating then the 770CCA battery should be fine....granted all the other specs are the same. |

I just bought the Autozone H8-DLG. My car would not start after sitting for a few days or if I ajusted the seats while detailing. (The old battery is 6yrs old and has 92k miles on it...it had a good run and never left me stranded).
The H8-DLG is an exact fit with exact dimensions down to the vent hose. The only thing I am debating is the registration and reprogramming of the battery. I want to get it registered to let it know that I have installed a new battery. Do I need to get it reprogramed because of the new CCA output? The User Manual is of no help. Someone knowledgeable needs to make a sticky or DIY about battery replacement as far as the easiest and cheapest option there is. I see way to many threads regarding battery replacement, and i still have some questions of my own.
The thread should include compatible batteries (sizes, companys, where to buy (easy places like walmart, or autozone etc) Where to get the battery programmed Whether or not the battery should be programmed, reset or both Reasons why batteries must be programmed in the first place Costs of replacing the battery etc I would love such a post/thread and i'm sure others wouldn't mind either |

I think the old one was 720CCA.
The DHG has a 96mo warrenty so if it goes bad I can get it replaced.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...63#post8631363 And as long as the Ah rating and type (AGM or non-AGM, lead acid) are the same or similar, then it's fine. You should then do registration...it will maximize battery life. |
