Smile Ignorant Question on Headlights!

Hi guys. Ok so this is a bit of an ignorant question on my part but I'm not someone too "knowledgeable" about mechanics of cars, let alone BMWs.

I am awaiting ED delivery on a 2007 AW 335 coupe. I've seen many picture posts of gorgeous white/blue headlights using MTech H8 superwhite bulbs and GP Thunder 8500 H8s. I wanted to get these bulbs for my car when I take delivery of the vehicle.

However, doesn't the E92 COME with Xenons that look white/blue in color? Why do the lights in the BEFORE photos look YELLOW? Are these just the DRLs? Also would you say the GP Thunder 8500 H8s are more blue in color or white? I want the pure white light look.

Please explain. Thanks!

if you look at the lights, you get a ring around it that's yellow
people just put a white bulb in to replace that and it'll look much nicer

i think they're the DRLs

E92's angel eyes are the DRLs. You'd need to buy the necessary bulbs and replace them for the look you want. Do a search in the Cosmetic interior/exterior section of the forum for E92 bulb changes and find what you're looking for so you know exactly what to get and how much it'll cost you

I believe so too. i think the h8 bulb u speak of is the drl. and the d1s bulb is for the actual headlight and highbeam. i think the e92 has a py24w front turn signal bulb. people have been tryin to figure a way to change the orange led in the headlight capsule, to a blue or white, but im not sure if neone has yet..

heres a page that will tell u the bulb type until u get ur car and manual.

The 335i Coupe comes with Xenons standard. Also, most Xenon set-ups from the factory are in the 4300k (+/-) range. That color temperature is close to sunlight, and thus quite white.

The higher temperature ranges (6000k, 8000k, etc) get progessively more blue and purple. They also aren't as bright. If I were you, I wouldn't touch a thing, unless you REALLY want the cheezy eBay/aftermarket look.

oh no...i really don't want to go for that aftermarket blue cheesy look. I like the Xenons that come standard with most luxury brand vehicles like Mercedes Benz and Porsche. I don't want the color to look aftermarket at all! I thought the standard lights looked yellow which is what I DO NOT want! I like the classy white color.

If the e92 comes standard with the classy Xenon lighting then WHY are people changing their lights if it's just the DRLs and you can't see the white colored DRLs anyway? Back to confused!

Well, the fog lights also use H8 bulbs and those come standard YELLOW! So if you are going for the "all white" look, you'll want to change those out. And because the DRL use the same H8 bulbs (and are easy to change out), might as well get it done.

Here's what mine look like after changing them out (4 MTEC H8 total, 2 on each side).

You can set the settings and not have DRLs. Just wasted energy on powering the lights which are yellow. I prefer the stock lights as well.
