afe has a better technology, but with any drop in filter.... it really doesnt matter. you are looking at maybe a fraction of a hp difference.
Save some money and go with K&N. you wont regret it.

yeah, the afe intake is a piece of shit. I used to have one, and had massive low end tq loss. also y car would violently vibrate at 4K rpms if I accelerated slowly. it got to be annoying.
Drop in is the way to go for sure.

that's the air filter's job. if u get more dirt and shit then u have a bad filter. the charcoal is solely for emissions as the euro intakes dont have it

Does the charcoal delete cause a code? I helped a buddy of mine to cut the charcoal filter off and installed K&N drop in. No engine light came on, but when he checked his Idrive for any error, the missing charcoal error came on. Is that something that my buddy should be worried about or its just normal?

I thank you for taking time to answer my question. There was no code in the dash, just a message in the I-drive screen, Charcoal filter error. It didn't affect the driving dynamic of the vehicle, but just somewhat of an annoyance knowing the fact that it is there. Yes, we did reinstall everything correctly. No engine light warning light or what not. Just the Charcoal Filter info.
