M5 or SL550 or 335 Convertible
Try not to be biased on this one:
What would you get M5 or the SL550 since both are in the same price range and I also threw in the 335 or giggles even though it doesn't belong in the comparison. Try to include a brief explanation as to why you made the choice you made... Thanks |

All completely different cars for different needs.
But I would probably go for the M5 because it's an absolute beast and i just loveeeeeeeee the sound of that V10 |

I understand that they are different cars but they have 2 things in common -- both are performance oriented and both are in the same price range. So that makes this comparison valid

Depends what you're looking for. The drop top in the SL550 should be enough to convince you one way or another. If you're looking for a summer cruiser with some power and fairly nimble handling then go for the SL. If you are looking for utility, precision, performance, and something a little less flashy (M5 looks are so subdued, whereas the SL screams exuberance), then shoot for the M5. It's all dependent upon tastes.

3 different cars. I think that M5 is the more suitable for me car (perfomance, 4 door sedan). Otherwise I would buy the Mercedes.

You want the convertable...SL550. Sedan that rocks...M5. I'd be torn too.

After having owned 2 Mercedes, the second of which was just sold SLK 320 2002, I WILL NEVER AGAIN own another Mercedes. Too clunky, problematic, and it was constantly in the shop. It was something new every month. I finally just gave up and ordered an E93. My 95 325i had very few problems, and I sold it with 156k on the odometer. The SLK started to give me problems at 15k on the odometer. I should have sold it then!

itz a tough choice...but overall i would say M5 since you will enjoy the V10 engine more than the V8 and the handling of BMW is better than Mercedes as well...i guess everyone knows that...so i would say M5

I didn't like the new M5 when I drove it, preferred the e39 Also, the SL is A LOT more classy.

Yep, I agree, so many make the 335 out to be something it's not. The SL is a head-turner, the M5 and 335 are not. I love the 335 coupe to death, but I'm not out-of-touch with reality either. SL as long as it's not my money! Otherwise, S550 if it is.
Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly happy with my 335 coupe. I'm just responding to the question by the OP... p.s. when you ask such a question, have you ever driven an SL? I did 2 years ago and it was fantastic. |
