take apart rearview mirror e92 coupe

i have a 2008 335i coupe and there is a really annoying rattle that happens when i go over uneven roads at highway speeds. i figured out the rattle was coming from the bottom of the rear view mirror. while im driving if i hold the bottom of the mirror together with my hand the noise goes away and then when i let go it comes back. does anyone have this? i dont know if i can take a part the mirror and put felt tape in it or something? i see it is made up of a front and back and it looks like they snap together but i dont wanna break it.

My best guess is that it is not snapped together all the way or one of the clips is broken on the inside. I ttok mine apart to run some wiring in there and it was VERY hard to get back together correctly. Many cuss words and a billion trys later I finally got it done right.

it is in 2 pieces(the black cover).
you can separate it but be careful not to put too much pressure on the mount itself.
