Is it time to jump ship?!
I just saw this article on Inside Line about the TT RS being green lit for the US....360hp/332tq. Is this direct competition for the 1M coupe? If the price is right I would seriously consider it(Audi long-term quality issues aside of course).

More or less. The RS3 would be a better competitor based on amount of reasonable seating space available.

Between the 1er coupe and TT-RS there is a 3in. difference in legroom and a 5-6in difference in head/shoulder room so that IS a point but I think the aim of both cars is roughly the same (no baby seats in the Audi though...). Now that I think about it doesnt the 997tts have back seats? |

Look at the numbers:
http://www.edmunds.com/bmw/1-series/...tyle=101288165 (for 128i but dimensions are the close enough) http://www.edmunds.com/bmw/1-series/...tml?sub=coupe& style=101288165 http://www.edmunds.com/audi/a3/2011/...tyle=101212591 For all the criteria I named in my previous post this IS the closest thing out there (The New 2011 RS3 "sportback" is a 4-door and a hatchback so it doesn't get to play in this party). |

TTRS price is closer to M3. So no comparison there

^^^Yep real expensive. I think the 1M coupe will start around $48k? I would LOVE to see a comparison test done between the two vehicles since they have similar dimensions and weights....

I'd take it over a 1M coupe.

Not really. The TTS is already 45k, you can expect this to be a lot more before options (which also applies for the 1M). If the M had a real screamer of an engine, it would have been easy pickings.

I personally like the Audi TT. It has this look about it that just does it for me. My brother almost ended up buying one. Looks wise I would take the TT over the 1. Performance-wise, well I guess we'll have to wait and see...

Owned a 2001 Audi TT MT (31k miles) and say that it is a cool little car. However, the bad side of the car was that it has no space... It is like driving a Miata or Z4 which doesn't appeal to me space wise.
Performance was flawless. Such a small car you feel every turn etc. However the 135 does offer some pretty mean tunes and other mods that really get that twin turbo its true potential! |

Based on that article it says, low -60k range for a pretty loaded tt-rs with 360 hp? Not too bad. The 1M with it's options added up might cost 55 grand as most of the individual options are bundled. Last edited by Mprofiler; 02-15-2011 at 02:19 AM.. |

I saw a few of these while in Munich this past fall. They are quite flashy in person..., great looking but almost too "Blinged out". The pics definitely do not do it justice and it sounds amazing. Give me a hardtop/vert version and I'd consider taking that leap...

Might be something to look at as long as it comes with a wing delete option. I have always liked the looks of the TT. Besides competition is good!

When I was in Germany I actually rented a couple of TT's (2.0T and the 3.2L V6) and they ARE a great looking car, the interior looks great but there ARE (were?) some cheap feeling bits on the inside (once you got past the looks and got tactile feedback you begin to notice it). This was back in '08. To bad about the price though as I would seriously consider one of these over the 1M.....As for the tuning aspect of it, I am sure someone like APR or others will have some type of tune available so that is a non-issue...

The folks at EVO have a long termer and the reviews are mixed. It has a great engine (half of their V10) but the steering is numb and overall it is an under achiever. Never made their car of the year shoot out where as the ford focus GT made the cut. The new quattro concept is using a tweaked version of the engine which I hear it's a beast. Can't wait to read more about it
