What do you guys think? Played for the first time for about 20 mins and I like the menus on MVC2 better. What's the best 3 for noobs button mashing?

Glad to know some mvc heads on the board. I unfortunately already ordered my copy on amazon before finding out about the $25 off deal at kmart. Should have my game waiting for me at home today though.

Not sure about the stick you linked out, but looks kinda like the mad catz tournament edition. I don't think they've released the mvc3 edition yet.

If you're looking for perfect 360 sticks, I would look into MAS Systems. I bought some sticks off them when MvC2 was still hot(ter). Heard from my friend they're still in business. Good quality sticks.

they do have the mvc3 fightstick released: although they said there are only 5000 units made, and it's almost 200 dollars shipped out the door for it!

I'd just go with the madcatz for 150 + 20% discount. Any more and I'd look at a custom MAS stick. As far as madcatz, I haven't purchased one personally, but I have one my friend lent me. One of the only flaws with the madcatz is that it's 8 way joystick.

Advance of MAS stick is that you get to customize everything. When I purchased my stick like 5+ years ago, I was able to get a perfect 360 joystick + convex buttons (also can choose concave). I was also able to customize my colors. You can also get the MAS stick with multiple cords; I did Dreamcast + PS2 when I bought mine.

Not trying to convince you to buy one brand or the other; just have more experience with MAS.

As far as teams, I would suggest looking at the guide I linked out in previous post. The game is still new so lots to be figured out still. My friend got the game last Saturday and he says people online are scrubs. And the gameplay is more keep-a-way right now than rushdown since people don't understand the characters too much yet.

Don't worry, I still haven't tried out the game yet, Amazon didn't delivery yesterday

I wasn't a top tier MvC2 player either, only mediocre. We're pretty much starting at the same place and you have the advantage of a couple days playtime.

honestly i don't. a good player will be good with all of the characters, not just 3. cause once you lose against someone you can choose another 3 that may be able to win. not saying i'm good but i try to play with all the characters

I kind of agree with that statement. A good player understands all the characters but only need to be good with a couple of characters/teams. If you spread yourself too thin and become a jack of all trades but master of none; those who have honed their skills with just 3 characters will likely outclass you and win. And although this game is more balanced than MvC2, not all characters are created equally; as much as they try it's just not possible. There will be top tier characters and low tier characters; just not sure who is what yet. As for right now, learning all the characters isn't a bad move.

One thing about this game I haven't played around with yet is X factor. I hear X factor when you're on your last character is overpowered; you do crazy bonus damage. Can easily turn the game around and counter a victory. I hear management of your x factor is a big part in this game; to save it up for your last character (ace in the hole) or use it up with first two characters.

I played about an hour last night. Game is very different than MvC2. Need to get used to the controls. Only tried 3 teams in training yesterday. I don't understand the dynamics of this game at all yet. Need to put in some hours to learn soon.

got a couple hours in last weekend. sentinel is way overpowered. x factor sentinel can take out entire teams.

do missions, watch youtube, training mode. usually air combo is some variant of M, M, H, S. or M, M, H, (some type of special move like fireball) then cancel to super.

Do some training missions. practice the basic combo where you launch them into the air and do some variation of M, M, H, S (in the air). Practice that one and the one where you do a super in the air. It's very similar pattern for nearly all the characters in the game.

Just started playing ranking matches. Last night I faced a 7th lord with a 31 win streak. Went into the game thinking I was going to get straight up owned. Ended up beating him only to have him DC at the end and steal my win. Fail.



I only have about 25 games right now, but ever since I ranked up to Amateur after like 10 games, they've been pairing me up with 5th and 6th lords (lower the number higher the skill) a lot. I have my skill level set to same. Anyone else having this issue?
