Thieving bastards! What good does increasing motorway speed limits to 80mph has? More petrol burnt, more money spent, more money the thieving Government gets...

Where was that, Doughboy? The BP garage nearest me consistently has teh highest fuel prices in the area, and they change daily, depending on what they think they can charge.
As others have noted, the situation in Libya is unlikely to make things better. Tony Blair's rapprochement with Gadaffi was all (or at least, a lot) about opening up Libya to 'British' oil companies. And don't blame Blair - he was only doing what any British PM would have done. |

Standard Shell Fuelsave is 139.9p/litre at my local garage.
£6.35 per gallon..... errr no thanks, I'll go elsewhere. It's 10p/litre cheaper at the Shell garage near work. Go figure.

There are no reasons for price increases, the Saudi's have already stated that they will make up for any shortfalls caused by the Libyan crisis, it's just speculators and companies making big bucks, not much changes as we've seen it all before, robbing c*nts! |

Anyone farts in the middle east and the oil price goes up, it one of those things. Libya produces about a thimble full of oil a day on the grand scale of things, any excuse for the markets to push the price up. |

Sure, there's no reason for prices to increase because of Libya. BUt it serves as an excuse.

That is my fill up! The pump shows what I just put in my tank - I paid the whole darn £85.
I don't look at prices beforehand, just fill up as and when, you win some you lose some. At least it will last me err... 3 days if i'm lucky? Yep, but when the bong shows 30 miles left and you've just got on the motorway with 60 miles to go.... Last edited by doughboy; 03-02-2011 at 05:12 AM.. |

At most I'd save £5, not worth the messing around at rush hour going off route IMO. And filling up twice is double delay jeopardy! I'm doing the same 120miles per day at the moment, and going off route to fuel will cost 15 minutes or so, so either 15 minutes late for work or 15 minutes late getting home, neither worth £5. Don't tell me to get up earlier, 5.30 is early enough. Of course it was, but i put the phone into 'flight' mode before taking the picture |

£5 is £5 yep, as 15 minutes is 15 minutes, but when you're tight for time it ain't worth the time penalty when there is no local garage to hand. £5 is worth not getting youre ear chewed by the angry missus for being late and her having to put little un to bed by herself!! I might save £40 in a month but I'd have spent 2 hours doing it by that reckoning, not strictly true as I'll usually get one fill locally per week if I can. But I won't take the car out at a weekend just for fuel, short runs are bad for the engine. So I might miss a local fill up opportunity. Swings and roundabouts and all that. |
