what do you think of 07 350Z?

I browsed my350z forum and found out a guy ran 13.64 @ 104.68 with 2.201 60'. I am very surprised new vq35hr has a significant improvement. what do you guys think of it if comparing it to 335i? it looks like on par with 335i in performance.

the vq35 is nice, but it won't be a twin turbocharged N54 no matter how hard it tries. the N54 has alot more torque which means you'll hardly have to downshift when passing ppl on the highway, where in the 350z and G35, you're constantly downshifting to get into the powerband.

not to mention the G35/350z have dead steering compared to the beamer, wierd feedback that comes from the shiftknob, pedals, and steering wheel.

the main difference between nissan's and BMW's can be summed up in 1 word: refinement.

Actually you aren't constanty downshifting with the VQ. It has a nice amount of torque, although definentaly not as much as the TT N54. And also, some people like hard, raw engines, while others like smooth refined ones.

Seems believable since they are a few 100 lbs lighter with the same HP as the 335i.

well, here is the link to that. more 07 Z owners are going to track again to get a better time, maybe some guys will witness it. they are even expecting to get best of 13.2-13.3s. I wish it's not going to let them down.

yes, 335i definately has more number to wheel than 07 350Z at the dynos. but 07 has more hps and torgue to wheel if compare it to older Z's. this is example between 07 AT. and 04 MT.

04 Z MT. (253whps and 255lb)
07 Z AT. (287whps and 289.5lb)

this number is from dynopack, so it's a way inflated, but it still shows the increase in power. I am not saying it represents all Zs has this numbers, but they are still close. btw, 07 is little heavier than 04. 07 Z has 3300~lbs.

if you go to 350zmotoring.com, someone stated a guy ran 13.54 in 07 MT 350Z. another one ran 13.66 in 07 AT 350Z. why is it so hard to believe a car run mid 13s with 306hps in 3300~lbs car?
btw, the 80% of major components of the 07 engine (vq35hr) in 350Z has been redesigned for the improvement, words from nissan.

I dont think it impossible for this to happen. I like the Z but I wish it handled better and the interior look so cheap to me. For the money its hard to beat but I think I would take an s2000 over it. Its does ride hard to for the way it handles. The styling is AWESOME and with big wheels it looks great. It also has a great sounding engine espically with the POP charger.
