Video: $6 Million Dollar 1937 BMW 328 Buegelfalte

VIDEO: http://money.cnn.com/video/luxury/20...n_bin&hpt=Sbin

From homepage:
Quote:
A $6M BMW currently owned by a NJ man, the 1937 BMW 328 Mille Miglia 'Buegelfalte' is one of the world's most significant pre-war sports racing cars. The nickname of the car is derived from the creases on the top of the fenders, referred to as ‘Büegelfalte’ meaning “trouser crease”.

The Buegalfalte was constructed of aluminum titanium alloy body and frame, revolutionary for its time. Originally built by BMW for the racing department, it raced in the 1937 Le Mans with the well-known British driver of the period, A.F.P. Fane, as well as the 1937 Tourist Trophy in the hands of H.G. Dobbs. The following year it participated in the 1938 Mille Miglia 1000 mile race and won a notable victory in the 2.0-litre class, again with Fane driving and William James as co-driver. In 1939 it was re-engineered and gained 50 more HP for its race in the 1940 Mille Miglia race, which would be its final race.

Owned by nazi party officer throughout WWII, taken by Russians as war reparations and given to Artiom Ivanovich Mikoyan, creator of the Russian MiG fighterplanes. The car eventually ended up in the ownership of a Latvian until 1991 when after the Berlin wall came down, the car was driven to Munich where BMW restored the car. Its current owner purchased the car in 2001.

Absolutely agree. The cost of the car in terms of simply just the car is far from $6 million, but when their is definable history and lineage such as this, it almost becomes priceless.

Gorgeous! it just needs a VERY intricate detail. Especially the metal dash trim! for a restored car its ok. beautiful museum piece though.

WoW! 6M!!! No wonder BMW AG built themselves a few new(reproduction) ones!

Seen at last year's Techno Classica show in Essen. (I hope this car is there at the end of this month again!)
