WTB: 335xi
As title says, still looking for a 335xi (sedan or coupe) . At this point I'm ok with getting car shipped from anywhere in U.S. I'm Located in CT Must be -6MT (not AT so please don't tell me you have an AT to offer) -XI -sport package -exterior- Montego Blue,White,Black,Grey -Interior- Anything but brown -Max=$27,500 ish -No high mileage (nothing higher than 55,65k) Can pay in cash! Have been looking for a 335xi for quite long time now, still have not found the right one. If you would like to email me my email is adths63@gmail.com Last edited by suave5274; 05-12-2011 at 03:17 PM.. |

not trying to push my car.....i am not even selling right now....but why XI ? I personally live in MA and was looking specifically for none-XI, less weight, more fun, better handling, sport suspension, lower ride...and driving in snow with winter tires is better then xi with all-seasons (like many do)

As someone who drives a 330i w/ snow tires, the xi is not the help that you think it will be in the winter, especially with the all season tires. We had over 55 inches of snow this season too. The limiting factor is the ground clearance. My previous car was a 2006 Subaru Impreza w/ all seasons, and the 335i with snow tires is just as capable.
Tell your dad to save some $$$, get you a 335i, and spend the savings on a set of winter tires. |

There are number of tests on Tirerack (videos) that discuss this subject. One test in particular shows that AWD with All-season tires is NO good compared to RWD with winter set.
I had A4 Quattro with not so good high performance winter tires, and I feel that my 335i with Dunlop M3s is about the same as A4 was. Your dad must not know the power of current traction control systems, especially the one thats used in BMWs, DSC. This system makes RWD bullet-proof in snow and rain if you have the right tires. Of course if you spend another $1000-$1500 on winter set for XI, this would be even better, but XI with All-seasons if useless and dangerous to drive. I ran 17" Blizzaks for a few seasons and yes they are incredible but I sold those and ran 18" all-seasons this year with record snowfall in Chicago and they were almost as good. "Useless and dangerous" only applies to the summer tires offered on the sport package equipped models.
