I need ideas for a beater car / truck

truck would be nice, but kinda expensive. Something not horrible to drive, reliable and under maybe 7K... or 10K for something nice.

I was thinking Xterra, but i would have to spend more that 10K for a decent one I think.

yep, definetly in the play book. The newer gens are popular and seems like value holds fairly well.

what do you do with a beater car that would be so terrible to do with the bmw? ya spend all that $ on a fun car, then drive a beater.. rain or even snow won't hurt todays cars.. if you're worried about mileage and losing a couple K on the resale down the road, why spend 7k now on another car? take the 7k and mod the BMW and DRIVE it !

so you don't want to drive your car due to a long commute yet are considering a truck? they don't run on sunshine...

if you're mechanically inclined and have garage space, I'd look for a mk1/mk2 gti, e30, original mini, (964) 911, etc. something older, light, fun to drive, fun to work on.

otherwise, I think the only logical solution is to buy a cheap, dull, boring car which will make you hate life.
