Moonroof Open -> Tilt on a 2011.. Has something changed?
This is more out of curiosity than anything since it's just a convenience thing, but does anyone know whether the operation of the moonroof has changed from 2008 E92 ->2011 LCI E92?
On my 2008, I could go directly from Open to Tilt by pressing up on the moonroof button. However, on my 2011, I have to close the moonroof first before pressing up to go into tilt mode... |

Sneaky change which started in the LCI cars, I believe. Not sure why.

This change sucks and it just means more time with my hands off the wheels. There had to be a reason why they changed it though.

I'm guessing they had complaints from people thinking the roof was deffective because it tilted intead of closed when you pressed it.
All you have to do now is complain that it's deffective because they changed it and they'll change it back. Same thing with the all/rest change. BMW didn't even remove the hardware to make it work, they just changed the programing and you chan program it back because people were complaining about the feature missing. lol to think there would be a company that listens to their customers too much.

Oh look, another person that feels that BMW is the most perfect car in the world - even though they don't include features that many, if not all, other car companies in the world include as standard features for less $$.
BMW is a quality car, but it is far from perfect - there is always room for improvement. When I pay 50k for a car, I would expect that it would at least exhibit mechanical characteristics equal to the level of $$ paid & run better than a car that costs 20-30K. I personally wasn't complaining, basically happy with my purchase & would prolly buy another when time to trade - just stating the quirks that I see could use improvement based on owner experience...

Seriously??? Is this just some kind of "premium" feature now. I'm pretty sure this is something we can code back into the cars though

My 2011 335is doesn't do it either
Not sure if this is a messed up defect or not that BMW missed. My old E46 you could have the S/R open and press tilt and it would close then go into tilt.
My 335is won't do this. I have to close it then press tilt after. I agree that this causes you to be distracted while driving since its twice the operation. |

We don't have close function.
Some of the stupid safety things here.
We can only open windows / sunroof with the keyfob. It would be nice if it could close/ fold mirrors/ and sunroof here. If you have comfort access you can press the door handle to close. Otherwise I believe you have to insert your key into the door to close. I found a stupid thing the other day. If you fold your mirrors and put the car into D and drive, the car isn't smart enough to unfold them. Yes I understand there is a button but it would make sense right? |

This is not stupid, you have to reach 25mph before they unfold, no distance requirement... it is actually extremely smart as the two purposes for folding mirrors are parking and driving down very small european alleys where you could be traveling 0-25mph and need your mirrors shut.. bmw is smarter than you

...and I used to think manual roll-up windows were a real drag. Now we argue about having to push buttons to operate the sunroof, mirrors, seats...just terrible, these modern BMWs.
