HELP! What car to buy in the next year??

Hey Guys,
So I'm in a little dilemma. I've been going back and forth for a while now trying to figure out what is the best car for me to buy (I want to buy Summer 2012).

Here are my needs:
  • Price range: $80,000 MAX but would like it more around $75,000
  • I need to be able to drive it around 4 times a week so it has to be pretty reliable
  • I want it to be able to turn heads (something unique that has a clear presence)
  • It needs to be pretty fast (1/4 mile in the 11's to low 12's stock.. I don't track very much but plan to more with this next car)
  • I don't want to mod the engine or for looks besides wheels and a drop (so stock speed and looks are big to me)
  • It can be a 2 seater (preferably so)
  • Coupe or Convertible, but I have a thing for verts
  • It needs to be relatively new (2008 or newer)
  • It can be manual, but I'd kind of prefer a PDK/Dual clutch type of set up (I don't have TOO much stick experience)
  • I'm young so there's no worry about kids or anything
  • Interior needs to be somewhat luxurious

Cars that I have in mind that fit my criteria (somewhat in order of what I like the most to the least):
  • 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo (fast, reliable, sexy, but will be outdated and a new 911 is coming out next year but the next turbo will be out ~2014)
  • 2008-2010 Porsche 911 GT3 (not as fast, reliable?, sexy, but stick and not really a daily driver kind of car, it will be as new as I can afford)
  • 2011 Porsche GTS (widebody, fast, unique, centerlock wheels, newer, more daily drivable)
  • 2012 Nissan GT-R (not sure if they'll be in the low 80's by the time I'm ready to buy, sometimes I love how it looks and sometimes its just okay, interior isn't that great, maintenance nightmare from what I hear)
  • 2011 Nissan GT-R (definitely affordable, but pre-facelift which kind of sucks)
  • 2012/13 BMW M3 (not really that fast, but I'd be able to get it brand new and get some individual paint and interior options, It is going to get replaced in 2014/2015, BUT last n/a M3)
  • 2012/13 Mercedes C63 amg Coupe w/p31 package (again brand new, the exterior styling isn't my favorite, but interior is sick)
  • 2012/13 Porsche Boxster Spyder (not too fast but a real drivers car and convertible)

Cars that are out of the question because I'd look like I'm driving my dad's car or just not a car I'd want to daily drive due to maitenence and depreciation:
  • Aston Martin DB9
  • Maserati Gran Turismo
  • BMW M5 or M6
  • Mercedes E63 AMG or CLS 63 AMG

Please help me out guys. It's such a tough decision and I'm tried of thinking about it lol

GT3, GT-R, or Z06 would be my course of action. What about a 08 Viper SRT-10 ACR? I think those can be had for $80k ish

I'd narrow it to 911, GTR, M3 and C63.

The Turbo and GTR will both turn heads, the latter even moreso. I'd rather have the 911 than the GTR and really wouldn't care about sacrificing that last 5% of performance for a much better interior.

I'd take a C63 coupe, put an exhaust kit and some mesh wheels like something from 360 Forged or some HRE P40s, tint it, and call it a day. The M3 is still awesome but I've seen the same modded E92s too many times.

If you don't need practicality (like you said, two doors is cool), then just focus between finding a good used GTR or Turbo imo.

Ever consider a TTRS? It's coming out soon. Fast, pretty unique, definitely sporty.

65k but performance is severly lacking. Agree with all you posted though.

All good points.. I'm mainly focused on either the GT-R or 911 Turbo, but I can't figure out what's better.
- The 911 will have a face lifted version and a new body style already in front of it by the time I get it, but the interior is sex and I just love rear/mid-engine cars, but mods are $$$$$ which will make me not mod it (i.e. stainless steel exhausts are like $5k)
- The GT-R is sex but interior is just okay (I'd likely get some recaro sportster seats or technocraft seats to spruce it up a bit), but reliability and maintenance is questionable

and then you see the c63 w/481hp and I'll be able to get it brand new (which is kind of big). And the M156 is an amazing engine and the interior is nicer than GT-R and 911 Turbo imo.

Yea I think there's too many M3's around and they all are modded

I did think about TTRS but no dual clutch, I'm not 100% on it's styling, and it really isn't in the same league as 911 turbo, GT-R, C63 w/p31, etc

Yep, you're most likely going to be spending a lot on maintenance if you buy a GTR. If you have the money to mod a 911 Turbo then you'd be god-tier, but yeah the heavy pricing continues over to the aftermarket. It's good to know that the GT1 engine in the Turbo is reliable as a brick oven.

I'd suggest the C63...if you look at my posting history you'll find that I kind of have a serious thing for the new coupe coming out. That would be my choice, but that's just me.

Have you considered a Cayman R? It is like the Boxster Spyder but in a more practical hardtop body.

From your list I like C63, GTR, E93 M3. The GTR reliability is fine based on what I've heard from actual owners. A C63 with a simple chip makes over 500hp as well. M3 convertible is simply a sexy car!

These are the only ones that actually fit into the price range that you've set.

Out of these an 07/08ish 911 TT and used '09-'11 GT-R are the only years in that price. One of these would be my pick.

Turbo and GT-R seem to be the logical choices here. Unfortunately a decent used R8 will be ~100, which is out of the budget, but would fit with the others well.

If you can find a 911 GTS in your price range, that's the one I'd go with. I love how it's RWD and you get the wide hips without getting something too raw for a DD like a GT3. A great car all around.

Don't forget the Cayman S. Outside of the GT3, considered to be the best Porsche they make right now.

And the rest of the money for mods??? Yes sir.

$80K max is stretching it a bit on some of those P-car choices when you figure in your tax and registration, etc.. You'll be making some compromises on options (especially PDK, etc.) and finding a really good sample, etc..

Also be sure you have another daily driver or access to a bigger car. I have two of them (older 993 and a current 997.2) and there have been several times when I couldn't buy something at a store (just wouldn't fit in either the rear seat or the trunk), or had to leave stuff at home when taking a trip, or can't bring something to someone, etc.. If it's your only car you will eventually run into the issue of it being too small.

Maintenance, even routine, will kill you on ones a few years old. I've seen it happen to 4 people I know/know through friends.
