Thanks for all the good laughs and great information. I have finally had enough of the issues that come with the car. Though it has great potential, i feel that bmw really messup up the fun with their hpfp. I have zero mods on it, so i have never pushed the car past its design. the car is giving me the long crank again and along with the automatic tranny i just dont enjoy the car anymore. so it was time to say goodbye. Drove over to the dealer and traded it in for a 2006 zcp m3. leguna seca blue, black interior - manual tranny. So far were geting along just fine. Do miss the cupholders though!

Haha, well, not too shabby. I would rock that m3 in a heart beat.
I just had my second full pump replaced. new part update that was on a recent recall. Sorry u had to step down from the 335i. But, good choice the second time around!! |

I don't think anyone here is going to criticize your decision negatively...it's not a step down...it's a side step if not up....

I hate to burst your balloon but the M3 is a 3 series, although the M3 owners may not want to accept it.

Step up! Good job!
Enjoy that car. They are great. It was no. 2 on my list and some days I just wonder if I made the right choice. Cars are no fun when they break. Good luck with the M3 and I hope its what you wish for! |

I may be doing the same thing soon before my factory warranty runs out, looking for something a little more raw.

yup
Yes. I had fuel pump replaced 3 times, last time it came with new plugs and software (cost me 200 bucks for some reason). The last time the hpfp was replaced was after the recall. It took them 2 weeks to do all the work.
Either way. I just was not happy with it anymore. I took a chance on buying the auto with sport package. My first auto ever. It was better than expected but after a few weeks I got really bored with the tranny kicking me in the back everytime i pull into the garage or parking spot..etc. All BMW tells me is that is the braking system doing its job. They never even wanted too look at it. So this fuel pump thing just added to it. Also, I was very hesitant on upping the boost when this car had no oil cooler and florida heat . A retrofit would have been fun to do but costly. I will say this, that car has amazing potential...truly. My gripes with it are my own and I will never badmouth the N54/55 it...it just wasn't for me. My tuning philosophy wont allow just adding more power without putting a few things in place first, the fuel pump kinda hindered any forward motion here. Seems that every time I get ready to start work on the car, fuel system craps out. So Ive always wanted a car that a little "too much" for most people to drive everyday - Enter competition pack M3 - perfect. No nonsense suspension, raw engine sound and bare but very very nice interior. Only thing its missing is roll-up windows. I also found out that the 6 manual in ZCP, is a particularly rare combo. Most have SMG. Comparing the two is rather interesting. I wouldnt say its a step down or up, its quite in the opposite direction. Very different cars. Very different power band...just all over different. So here is my bow-out .....until I see one of you snail loving monkeys on the road sometime. Balls to the wall boys... Cheers D |

OP, sorry to hear the problems you've had with your 335i, but at least you got the M. Nice step up.

Sweet! The M3 looks much simpler under the hood, in a good way. The M seats always look so much better than the ZSP seats for some reason. M is M, what can anyone say?

Good Trade! I love interlagos blue.
Still love my E92, and in 28,000 miles only real problem was a hpfp failure at 4,800 miles, but I'd probably trade my car for that one. |
