2011 328i Coupe, fan noise???
Hi everyone,
I just picked up my 2011 328i coupe So coming from the dealer, I noticed that there was fan noise inside the cabin which sounded like the heater or ac fan was running on very low setting, but the fan was not on. It's off. Am I hearing radiator fan or is this normal cabin noise? Thanks in advance. *yes i heard this when i was moving and stopped. Last edited by r6killer; 05-11-2011 at 06:53 PM.. Reason: additional info. |

I hear nothing but the engine when my car is idling and the ventilation system is totally off. Make sure the temp displays are completely blank, that means it's all the way off ...
Either way, enjoy the car, drive it for a few days. If you still think it's a problem, make a video recording if possible and post it. Congrats! Also where are the pics???

I just posted a similar question a few minutes ago. I hear the same sound in a 335i coupe. Absolutely everything is off. No CD in player. Sounds like a strained fan belt or equivalent. Disappears when engine is shut off. Annoying as hell and not the kind of sound I would expect from anything with this price tag ... but I digress.
After searching for buzzing, humming, hum, etc. found a few other people complaining about the same thing. Have not found a plausible answer. What I hear is almost definitely coming from the dashboard. |

I just got an 08 328 and I noticed while home that with the fan on lowest setting there was some noise coming through the center vents. Almost as if it was underpowered. Increasing to 2 or higher made the noise go away. i was most annoying at the red lights when road noises were no longer washing it out.

I'll make a note to listen harder next time I'm idling.

Wanted to bump this. Just noticed this start happening after a visit to the dealership. Completely unrelated to the work being done (replacing fog light housings).
Anyway it's a noise as if the AC or heat is on a low setting. Happens intermittently while in motion or idling. Any ideas?! |

It might be the computer starting up and running, that's what I think it is. It usually starts for me when i open the door with comfort access, so i think its just the systems powering up.

i have this issue as well. i feel that it's the a/c fan growling because of some resistance in its spinning.
this thread, at the end, notes that it could be a rusted ac fan. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55278 i will be taking in the car soon, so i will update with any info.
