Minor accident
I was standing still in traffic Wednesday night when the car behind my car was rear ended and pushed into the rear end of my car. My car is a 2009 titanium silver E92 335i with ~20K miles(~$52K new). The damage that I can see are three circular cuts resulting from the license plate bolts of the car that hit me. The car only had three license plate bolt, conclusive proof that he caused the damage. The driver at fault has State Farm Insurance. I contacted State Farm and they are going to send an investigator/estimator to appraise the damage to my rear bumper. My question for my fellow forum menmbers is how do you feel my bumper should be repaired. Should I accept a patch and paint job or should I demand the bumper be replaced? Would I be successful? Also since the police were on the scene and assingned a case number to the incident, will it be picked up by CARFAX as an accident and result in diminished value upon trade in or resale. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.
