My 2011 E93 hardtop after two months...observations

This car rocks! However, after driving my E90 for the three years and now driving this one for two months, I'm noticing these two things --

1. This thing will bottom out on speedbumps if I'm not careful. This car is LOW and I have to be so careful! I hope I didn't do any damage when I bottomed out in it last week. Did I? God only knows what was impacted....

2. The front bumper lip is super low! How do you keep from hitting curbstops? I haven't yet but I'm scared. I'm still stopping too short, having to get out and look, pull up a little more, etc. Is there an electronic device I could get or do I just have to eyeball this and get used to it?

Would love to hear from others what you do?

Thanks in advance,

Jay in San Antonio, TX

I stay scraping on everything. lol
You arent doing real damage promise (except when I hit my exhaust and it scrapes. you can hear the difference its metallic).
Its just cosmetic in a spot you'll never see anyway.
Just enjoy your car

Update from OP: I was curious to see what exactly bottomed out so I looked under there with a bright light. Fortunately, the point of impact was the slightly protruding "jack marker" behind the front tires. Zero damage to the undercarriage other than that protrusion where you would put a jack...just slightly scraped on the right side. Thank God!

Moral of the story --- Be careful y'all with those high speed bumps!

those must be some tall speed bumps or you must be going over them really fast.

There is 5 inches clearance on mine between the road and the "jack markers" behind front tires that hit the speed bump. That's pretty low, right?

LOL! It was in a school parking lot and I drove over it slow. It was one of those vicious ones that are nearly square! LOL.

I just hope the roads are good where you guys live. 5" of clearance isn't much for pothole infested roads!

I've had to learn how to compensate for such low clearances after previously driving SUVs.
I take all speedbumps, driveways, etc. at an angle, and stay away from parking lot bumpers. After 4 months, I've yet to bottom out with any damage.
