So what's the issue? The pump blows up, I get it replaced under warranty.. And I'm good to go? Right?

Happens twice and I lemon it. Is my premise correct?

you get a 10 year warranty on the hpfp and you should still have plenty of original warranty left on the car.. don't worry about it and just enjoy the car. if something does happen take it in.. enjoy the loner car and when your car is ready continue to enjoy it

There are many threads on this which will come up if you use the forum search feature. There are also STICKIES on the HPFP which have the latest HPFP info.

The HPFP has a 10 yr./120K mile extended warranty for 2007-2010 models. I don't believe the 2011 models have this HPFP extended warranty yet?

When the HPFP fails with the vehicle in motion there is a significant loss or total loss of engine power and/or violent shaking. There has been at least one accident reported to NHTSA.gov and many close calls. There is no telling when or where the HPFP will fail be it on the hwy. at 70 mph in rush hour traffic or in the middle of the night a long ways from emergency help.

If reliability and safety are important to you then you might want to read the BMW owner safety complaints at NHTSA.gov for real experiences so you know what has happen to others ands what can happen to your vehicle.

Mine failed on the highway...i was still able to drive tho..in limp mode..next day car wouldnt start

I've got a 2011 E92 335i, and I worry more about the turbo going out than the HPFP. I bought my car so I'm more concerned with the turbo after the warranty is up. I plan on keeping my car for a long while.
