Anyone with similar issue with the new M Sport bumper?

i just took my 3weeks old 335i M sport coupe to the service after the A/C stopped working, and it turns out that a tiny stone hit the A/C condenser and caused a leak, the whole part needs to be replaced (about 1,5k including labor) and is not covered by the warranty
I'm being told to get a mesh protection for the front as the new M Sport front bumper openings are pretty large...i still have my old coupe with the regular sport package, and yes the openings seem smaller in the older version, the front is much better protected...

Did anyone have similar issues? I never had a problem before, or i would have gotten the extra mesh protection right away...this is very, very aggravating ;(
this car doesn't even have 1k miles on and the front looks pretty damaged to me, even though i'm trying to be super careful with it...wonder if it's really the bumper construction 9the larger than normal openings), or bad luck /bad driving on my part?

That's complete BS that the dealer won't fix that. There is nothing that you could have done to prevent it. So much for the "bumper to bumper" warranty.
They want YOU to buy a finer mesh to protect the condenser? Wasn't the OEM mesh designed by BMW's finest engineers to provide adequate protection for the condenser?
I would try another dealer or contact BMW North America HQs and complain.
FYI, I just picked up a new E90 with the M Sport package.

Sounds like a design flaw to me ... a stupid rock chip knocking out the AC? Wow. Total BS on the part of the dealer, I agree. $1,500!?

This makes me nervous considering I have the same car as you ... '11 E92 335i M sport. The openings on the front grille are large indeed.

Call BMWNA without delay. The dealer's recommendation that you buy a mesh screen to prevent this problem means that there is a design flaw.

thanks, glad i saw your opinions....will call them and see what can be done here...

btw I just looked at my old 08 328 sport (40k miles on it) condenser, and its in much better shape than the new one (with less than 1k miles driven)...the large openings make it really easy for rocks to come through...i got a finer mesh installed for bumper to protect from further damage, hope it helps

That sucks at the speeds, I might actually get a bullet sized hole.
