E92 335i non xdrive crew
Anyone here live in an area that gets a lot of snow? Im really starting to think maybe I made a mistake by not getting xdrive. Im concerned that I wont be able to get around town during a snow storm at all with my set up, and I will be leaving for work at 430am every day so that is also going to be an issue since thats usually before the roads get plowed.

I drove my E92 in 9" of snow without any issues, so problems with snow imho relate to ground clearance, not the drivetrain. Yes, a x-drive will handle better is snow, as will a CR-V. Some claim otherwise, but I say I've only got so many 45k car purchases I can make in a lifetime, why make that decision based on road condtions 7% of the time, as opposed to the other 93%?

There don't seem to be as many deals anymore, but when I got my package, I got 18" rims for $79 ea (when ASA was still made in Korea, now China), and some ultragrip non rfts and no tpms. this kept my shipped cost to just $1000....I don't care how the rims look for winter (although I used my car only once last winter)...

I live in near Toronto, Canada. I have no problems getting around in winter. Most E92 335i's here seem to be RWD (although there seem to be more E92 328i x-drive's than RWD 328i's - not sure why - 335i buyers care more about RWD?) You just need a good set of snow tires.

Another toronto guy chiming in....Snow tires and a competent driver behind the wheel = no problems.
I went form an fwd biased AWD suv to rwd 335i with snows and had 0 issues this winter. |
