Yeah I saw that a couple years back. It was an epic battle, sort of a bitch move by the Porsche to squeeze the Vette against the wall, but thats racing and he is trying to win.

That is an EPIC finish! The past couple years the GT class in ALMS has been some of the best racing in the world.

Hah Lame move by the Porsche.
Seems like Laguna Seca is a difficult track to pass someone on. It's narrow and there is not a single high speed straight away, minus that bend that goes through the finnish but it has an apex and the outside pass would probably be close to impossible with two cars like that. |

oomfg thanks for the post! I die for these leman races. I wish I was a porsche driver, dream job!
Btw the porsche clearly won the race, the corvette bumped him, I think it was totally called for the porsche to do what he did. |

Clearly Corvette was the faster car, if you watch the whole video you would see how it pulled away from the Porsche after the illegal pass. The Corvette would have been penalized for bumping. What the Porsche did was a beach move, he could have killed or injured that driver.

so was the corvettes bump on the porsches ass while taking the turn, could have EASILY landed him somewhere he didnt want to be. So no not retarded, just viewing both sides.

Retaliating on another driver because he bumped your car doesnt make it right. Not saying its right, but bumping is in racing. But I think they let it go as long as that bump doesnt give you an advantage or the other vehicle a disadvantage to the point where a position is lost, or damage is caused that could affect the race. Now granted, that was the final corner at Laguna Seca. Thats a really tight corner, and if you have dead tires and the car behind you is faster with better tires, you will likely have to brake sooner then they will, usually resulting in a bump from the rear. That corner isnt a 90 degree turn, its more then that, taking it on the outside wouldn't have given the Vette a good line, he may not been able to make the pass. So he stayed on the inside line, the Porsche blocked into the turn, the bump happened. Not saying that should allow the Porsche to get a "freebie" hit on the Vette. The Vette took a final attempt to pass on the far inside, the Porsche blocked again, but the Vette was already next to him, so in doing so the Porsche squeeze the Vette up against the wall. The Vette had to turn back towards the Porsche to avoid getting pushed into the inside wall. In doing so, he put himself into the Porsche, which resulted in the spin out. Im not sure if aggressively forcing a car towards the wall to block him passing you is legal or not, but thats how I saw it. |

I've got to side with Bergmeister (Porsche #45 driver) here. He was on the receiving end of the same kind of shit in 2007 when his car was knocked around by Melo's Ferrari and it cost him the win. So this time he put up a bigger defense.
Magnussen (Vette) just couldn't pass him cleanly and Bergmeister got tired of taking his shit. |

The temper was already flaring high, adrenaline pumping in your vein; that bump was the last straw unleasing the pented frustration. Whether it's right or wrong, ethnical or unethnical, at heat of moment I can relate to the Porsche driver. It really is a knee jerk reaction.

Watched that race as it happened live on the tube. It was one of the most exciting finishes I have ever seen. Edge of the seat, wide eyed and yelling at the tv kind of racing. Didnt end the way I would have liked but a great race anyway. Even exciting watching it again, thanks for posting.
