Missing Honda S2000 (sort of)/335i
This new 335i coupe is so quiet. No roar, no drama, no go-kart, no wariness that the rear could break free at any second, so smooth, so quick...jeez, it's relaxing to have such capacity. I'm too old for the track car. 335i coupe just flat-out handles and there is no substitute for gobs of torque....

Coming from a Prelude, about the only thing I really miss is the lighter flywheel, the slicker shifter, and the lower curb weight. Otherwise, advantage BMW in pretty much every respect.

I had a S2000 before my 330i. I know exactly what you're talking about. I still miss that car. Such a great raw visceral feel. I'm sure you heard about the S2000 CR supposedly for '08. That may be worth trading in for. I wish i could have compared the s to a 335 though. My lease was up and th 330 was the best thing on the market.

Another BMW supremacist here? S2K are very nice cars, if you have own one or driven one it's a blast to drive... The shifter, the gearbox, the response, dead on sport car style... Someone need to make a Short shift kit for the 335 soon, the throw is horribly long...

It is funny to listen to Ford vs. Chevy guys, especially rednecks (i'm from the southeast US boonies). Sorry I'm off topic. To get back on, I loved the S2K, but 5 years was enough for me. I just hope I enjoy the 335i as much.

You guys are really selling me on the S2k . I'm thinking of picking a pre-owned one exactly for all the reasons in the previous posts.

At this time I am driving a S200, but let me tell you I am more than ready for the "jump". When I sold my EVO 8 to by my S 2000 I was sad and invaded by second thoughts for a while. But now I am pretty sure that I won't have this mixed fellings. If I am going to miss it YES!

to the person that was speaking of worying about the back coming out in an s2000... Are the cars really prone to oversteer? I thought they were front wheel drive? Could someone clear this up?

I had one of the first ones released and really enjoyed it, but it is a lot like driving a go cart. For a daily driver it's a little rough for my tastes, but for a lot of people it's a great car. Steve |

S2000 is a great car, but mine is for sale. Living with it everyday isn't that bad, but it wears on you after a few years of everyday driving, and more importantly I store it in the winter and I don't like not having a good car to drive in the winter.

Yeah, i'm definitely going to miss the S2K when the 335 arrives, but I just felt that it was time for a change. I'm going to miss the go kart feeling that my car gives me where the steering response feels instant, the absolute insane ripp of the engine (VTEC plus Boost = FUN! ) that almost sounds exotic like with the turbo. Such a fun, raw car to drive, but I guess you always look for a new project after a few years. I know for a fact that i'm going to miss the gearbox, I realize all of the shortcomings of the s2k, but I can say without a doubt that this car has the best gearbox I have ever driven in ANY car at ANY price range, period. I'm hoping to death that they come out with a nice short throw for the 335 because the stock throws just don't cut it. Anyway, I hope that i'll love driving the 335 as much as I did with this car. One thing that I can say though is that even though the s2k handles very well, with a BMW you feel like you can drive it so much faster in turns just because it feels so much more planted without having to worry about the ass kicking out if you push it a hair too far. Both are great cars, just give you a much different driving experience.

Go test drive one, it will teach you very fast that its RWD. S2K's, especially AP1's, are very unforgiving when you push them hard, but maybe that is part of what makes them so fun to drive. I also learned this the hard way when I did a few 360's the first month that I had the car, and they weren't done intentionally.
