lol I feel like shit/depressed after l lost $150 last week and $50 this past week in roulette. The worst part is that both times I never won anything in any bet. I lost everything straight in a row. But my friend never played roulette before and decided to just put $30 on his favorite number and he won $1,050 on the first try, then he walked away and cashed out lol.

this is why i never gamble. I only place bets on things that im in full control of and that I know I can work the odds. Ive bet on 3 things in my life, car racing, counter strike, and battlefield. Never a loser, always a winner. Fuck casino's, the house always wins.

Quit while you're ahead, I've lost 2k in 3 hours and have now swore off poker. It just isn't worth it, even if you are the best poker player a string of bad luck against a lucky donk will wipe you out.

Poker is an easy game to pick up, but a tough game to master. If you are having issues loosing money, consider boning up on your game basics. There are a ton of books written on poker strategy. And while I do not recommend copying someone else's strategy, you can gain some insight into the mistakes and problems with your game through analyzing theirs. So consider doing a little reading and practicing at the cheap tables or limit tables to limit your losses until you polish up your game.

What makes good players

1. Intelligence
2. Ability to read emotion
3. Good with numbers
4. Ability to not show emotion
5. Knowing how to increase the pot when you're almost guaranteed to win, without getting everyone to fold.
6. Ability to be able to bluff, or know the perfect situation to bluff with high probability of people folding.
7. Knowing the game
8. Knowing when to fold, and not acting on emotion, only logic

You dont need all of these, but they all are ways to be successful

Good players dont need luck, they have the probabilities already in their head before calling. Luck plays a bigger role in newbs, who call the blind with BS, and the flop gives them trips or two pair. Pro players wont call with certain cards no matter what, they know what cards they will call before every game. If it isnt one of the dozen or so combinations of cards, they wont play it. But if you have a newb on the table not doing what all of the other players are doing, it always fucks the table up(beginners luck). Not luck, inexperience

Not entirely true.

Even the pros take bad beats on the river like everyone else....nothing but luck in those scenarios....that's why it's called gambling.

Pro players aren't gambling, they are working. The money they lose in a tournament is peanuts to what they win(usually just the entry fee). I also said they don't "need" luck, but every once in awhile it plays a part. For instance, guy goes all in with A-Q, and guy calls with A-K, and an Ace is all that pops out. Guy with the higher kicker won, but the A-Q was a good call.

I don't know any card games. I have forgotten how to play after not playing any games since 9th grade. But if you're losing that much don't play. Lol.

I used to hate card games, but Texas Hold'em cash games/tournaments are very fun. Gives you a chance to test you're intelligence and ability to read scenarios. Good for the brain, and good adrenaline rushes.

I find it odd that you left out the most important aspect of winning big pots and tournaments...LUCK!!!!.....

These so called great players in the world series of poker...do you know how many coin flips they had to win to win the world series, 17!...thats how much luck there is in winning tourneys...these players are great but there are alot of great players out there now...if you have ever played poker seriously in the past, you would certainly appreciate this....

Online poker where kids are playing 10 table at once, get a lifetime of experience, in 2 yrs...at least they did until the govt got involved recently.

I agree with you that tournament play is a much smaller portion of their income than the cash games.

You'll see that call multiple times....even with the pros....though a pro would likely be shortstacked if they're pushing with just AQ. Using your example, all those times the Q pops out instead...or they fill a Q straight...or a one card flush, etc., etc. it is luck and only luck that is involved. Look how many times pros lose with pocket rockets....every stat, guide, or crib sheet says they should win....but they don't always.
