CA / Fold-in mirrors?

So I was under the impression that if you hold your hand on the ridges on the doorhandle after the car locks (with CA), that then the rearview mirrors will fold up.... But this is not the case w/my car. Maybe I'm missing something or I misread a few posts here, but I tried holding it continuously for near on 30seconds to no avail.

Excuse me if it's something stupid I'm doing, but I could've sworn that was the way it was supposed to work....

The 07s apparently no longer do this... Button pushing time.

Bah... there was no reason to stop that... it's not like it cost more money to produce. Just software.

Ehh, maybe it'll come back in a later progman release

Yep, what Revlis said. Would be nice to ask if they could add it back via software. I admit I said I would when I first got the car but it hasn't been feasible for me to schedule an appointment just for this, but I am coming up on my 15K in a few months, so when the scheduled service is done I'll try to get the new Progman and mention the mirror issue and see what they say.

Isn't there a way to have it do this through the options menu in iDrive?

There is currently no software that can be flashed into the 07 cars that will make the mirrors fold in with CA. I had a Tech buddy of mine dig through all the available software about a month ago.

I'll just push the button when I am in some tight parking.

No big deal. With CA I think we're getting too lazy...

I wonder if they are afraid the motors will burn out under warranty. I think they would have already made it an option if that was the intent. Someone with connections should find out. I have and '06 and love the folding feature. I know the car is locked if the mirrors are folded (since there is no more beep in the US without alarm) and gives more room for the larger population to walk by in the parking lots. Also someone stole the mirror glass from my last car. Lastly it looks Hawt!

I thought folding mirrors were part of the Premium Package.
Am I missing something?

My mirrors DO fold if I press the button above the window switches, but they don't auto-fold when you hold the CA ridges... supposedly that was only E9x-es up to MY06.....

So I guess they don't fold at all any more without CA & Premium.

I had this feature reprogrammed by the german developer of the software here in germany.

As 200Deuce has already pointed out, no BMW tech is capable of reprogramming it, they don't have the software tools to do it. There will be no software update to fix this in the future.

The story behind it this software change (as I was told):

A top manager of BMW saw an E90 parking somewhere with the mirrors folded up and disliked it so much, he cancelled this feature from sept 07 on!

Who is developing the software then? Is it inside BMW? Is it a subcontractor?

I would surely like to know more about that, as software bought my bimmer

I don't know exactly.
This guy works for BMW, and he programmed the module directly with his notebook. Took 30 sec.

I've got a notebook, me...

...but I just don't know the right people.

Well, seriously, I probably won't dare to touch anything, but I'd surely like to take a peek at the inner workings. I guess that makes me a geek, but that's it...

FYI, I just had 25.00.03 installed and it did not take away this feature on my car.

Maybe the software flash does not affect this module. He said he could programm any kind of stuff into it, also the dimming-angel-eyes-feature (welcome lights) which is standard from March 07.
