Found a 08 335xi but has 55,540 Miles...BAD?? Good??
I just made up my mind and decided to go look at 335Xi AWD 2 door coupe, 6 speed (because I can't drive automatic)
The dealer is asking $31k but it has 55,540 miles....kinda high, my budget is no more than 30K to spend. And this car is clean, when I say clean its spot less, has 10 outta 10 interior, still has the clear bra on it with no scratches, owned by a younger gal who really really took care of it, rims have a few dings (woman driver) but other than that no wrecks, clean title. What should I look out for? Issues? Problems? Is the Mileage way too high? Is the Price too High? How much should I offer? heres the link of it (it says 35 but they are selling it for $31k) http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/ctd/2480127057.html please respond I want a car this weekend! |

bought my 2008 335xi E90 6-speed fully loaded navigation, sports, premium, cold weather, and comfort access. Never been wrecked and it had 51k on it. my price range was around 25 and i was looking for a 328 but ran into the 335 and i got mine for 24K. Feel like I got it for a steal, but I feel like 31 is a bit much.
just my 2 cents. Good luck! |

girl + 6mt? and it is NOT CPO? holy shit.. that is a very high price.. and u SURE u want xi man? the XI crowd will go nuts if you downtalk XI.. but the E92 was built as a RWD car, the XI is the RWD car with AWD thrown in.. bmw has never been known for their AWD systems, but made a living off the true driving experience.. I know you came from a WRX.. I've never owned anything but AWD/4WD cars in my life before this thing, and I have NEVER looked back, in fact I look forward.. to perfect 50/50 weight distribution, less weight, more sports car, and less things to break and maintain, you know, the way it was designed by the engineers and talk to the guys with i's living in the midwest.. an i with snow tires will go anywhere they want
I saw a CPO 07 E92 335i with 28k mi from kuni for 29k in December (not some POS gresham dealer that prolly bought it at some pass around auction) .. keep looking, don't impulse buy, the purchase is too expensive to make a mistake, and something bout buying such a nice BMW without a CPO, or any warranty for that matter from a nissan dealership is a little nerveracking the XI front wheel gap always makes me puke in my mouth a little start the flame war Last edited by ABerry; 07-09-2011 at 03:02 AM.. |

Off the top of my head, bad. Price too high, out-of-warranty, and I never believe the little old lady stories (except some of them are true when it comes to having millions of dollars but living like ordinary people as if the money didn't exist).
The thing is this, that I feel people just refuse to believe. Dealerships make more $$$ on a used car, than they do on a new car. So nobody, I mean nobody, is going to waltz into a dealership, and drive off with a great deal on a used car. so in the end, it really doesn't make any difference what anybody on this forum thinks. If someone gets a 335i used from a dealer and it was 24k, and they think it was a "steal," let them think that. The GM at the dealership also thinks it was a steal, only in their favor. |

Its a rare combo of a coupe, x drive and fully loaded with everything. 335 to boot!
Thats whats driving the price. Black on black is pretty desired also. I kind of agree with the x drive not being the end all. besides, you have all wheel drive with runflats? I have not come across a runflat allseason tire yet. AWD wont help you with those tires, and the added weight and I believe lack of sport suspension in all e90's with X drive makes it undesireable to me. while X drive might give you some cornering ability you add weight, lose MPG, and lack of sport tuned suspension. Some are repulsed by the wheel gap. I know the description says sport suspension, and all coupes regardsless of the "sport package" has the sport tuned suspension But I don't think it is on X drive cars. Regarding the price, it may be a bit high but don't let the guys here sway you too much. Every market is different and not all cars are equal. If you get the right car and are happy then a few grand won't kill you. Somebody will always pay less than you. Or tell you they did! if your budget is 30, and thats it, thats you offer and its his to reject. A lot of negotiation is about how long the car is sitting on their lot. Used car prices are up these days also. Look at the car fax and see how long they had it on the lot. A black on black turbo combo is well desired. Mine, a Space gray with saddle 328i with MT is not. I know this, but this is what I wanted. Given that, the car sat and sat and they kept reducing the price and finally I made an offer to them I said was good for two weeks and after that I would never call them again about that car. Eventually I got my price and the car proved to be mint when I went to get it. But I had time and was willing to walk away. There is always another car/deal out there if your patient. If your not, then pay for it. Most buyers get emotionally hooked on a car and the dealers know this. They are also providing the inventory and the ability to satisfy the instant gratification or an immediate transportation need. Don't hate on them, they are just doing business and if the supply/demand is in favor they will profit. A car that won't move cost them money and time. Last is the warranty issue. The lack of it on this car. I hope you have some money saved to deal with the unexpected. For 30 grand your getting a hell of a car but its used and its no Camry to keep on the road. I don't do them but you might want to consider an aftermarket one. Pretty car! Good luck! Remember, sometimes to get what you want to have to pay a premium. Price is only an issue in the absence of quality. Question is that car worthy of the premium to you or in the market you are shopping in? |

Buddy just bought an xi coupe like mine with 22k on it, premium but no sports pkg (he's a big guy so works out on the swats). Clean car fax and service, new tires and brakes, cpo eith maintenance included for... 30.5. You are getting ripped off if u buy that.
He bought an auto but said HD foubd a red 6mt coupe, same specs, with 26k, for same price. |

I work at a dealer. I would offer him 26,000 if your goal is to be 28,000. If he says No, get up like you're done and see if he/she sqirms a bit, it should prompt him to do better. Then start negotiating from a better number. However, if he comes down and asks for help only go up minimally. Until you meet at your mark. Good Luck.

Overpriced, walk away.
If you're scared of 55k miles, a used car is not for you. 55k miles is nothing for a car these days. If BMW didn't built these cars to go well past 100k miles, forget 55k, they need to get out of the game right now & I need to sell my car. |

Not to defend the price, and I do think it may be a bit high but that car has just about all options on it.
I talked to an independent sales guy and he said the auctions are crazy for these cars at wholesale at the moment. Like I said, if the car is not sitting long the dealer will wait. He can always dump it cheap later. I have bought 3 cars in the last 18 mos. Two used and one new. None were tied to a trade in. There is no efficient market BTW. If the OP wants a better deal he can work for one and invest the time. |

ps. i just sold mine for $26k with 47k miles w/ new brakes, rotors, and tires. (sold cheaper then i wanted though, because i found a good deal on the car i bought) |

I bought my TiAg 2008 335xi with 50k for $27k from an Enterprise sales branch. I TOTALLY suggest going to enterprisecarsales.com and you can check their entire inventory nationwide. They finance, take trade-in's at KBB value sometimes, comes with a 1 year powertrain warranty, 109 point inspection, and they sell a warranty of their own which I bought and is pretty good for the money. Anyways.... Fully loaded, beautiful interior. Not a scratch on it but for minor curb rash on a wheel. That was about $4-5000 lower than KBB value. I was happy.
Like Bargamon says, if that is the car that is going to make you happy as can be and put a smile on your face everytime you get in it, then what's a few grand more. Depending on your financing it will probably be negligible on a monthly payment. Odds are you can work the dealer down in price regardless. They probably took the car in on trade-in and gave the previous owner blackbook value on it, therefore they'll be making a LOT of money off the current asking price. I love my Xi. Wheel gap? Who cares? If it bothers you than throw some lowering springs on it and call it a day which is what my plan is going to be once I throw some VMR's on mine. BTW, mine has run flats on it, fyi. |
