2010 328i Sedan Sports Pkg & 3.0L I6
We currently have an opportunity to purchase a new 2010 328i sedan (huge discount) with sports pkg that includes "sports suspension" & "sport seats." Seats are comfortable but we're concern with the ride comfort of the sports suspension. We'll have the 17" V Spoke wheels with All Season Run Flats. Our 2011 328i without sports suspension rides great but doesn't have the sports seats. Looking on reviews or comments concerning the sports suspension and the 3.0L V-6 vrs 3.0L Inline6.

Everyone on this forum likes the sport seats and suspension. Not sure what you mean about V6 vs I6; BMW has never made a V6.
If you just want to know differences in design, an I6 should technically be smoother and more balanced than a V6, but a modern, well-designed V6 would be close or about the same in terms of refinement. |

how much is the car? and are you buying the car on top of what you have or trading it in? depending on what situation and price (could be a loaner) it would be a sensible buy.

Thanks on the sports seats and suspension reviews. I read both the 2010 & 2011 328i have the same 230 horsepower but the 2011 mentions I6 engine, I assume it means an Inline 6.

Thanks for your comments...I don't want to discuss prices in this forum. We're buying a 2nd BMW 328i. Car is not a service loaner & has 34 miles on it. Car is from a BMW dealership. Thanks again!

I have a 328i with sport suspension. It is firmer than most other makes of cars. The first two weeks after purchasing, I had some very mild back pain but it went away and I'm completely used to it.The seats are exceptional and give great support.
I've driven non-sport cars (loaners while my car's at the dealer). They definitely drive differently. I prefer the sport suspension combined with the summer tires. My main attraction to the 3 series sedan was "four door sports car". With the suspension and the summer tires, you will likely run out of confidence before finding the car's cornering limits. I've also experienced one panic stop and the brakes are great and probably aided by the wider and stickier rubber of the summer tires. That said, there are plenty of other good things about the 328i and I'm glad to hear it has broader appeal. |

Just a small flame here. Why not consider a different car for your second vehicle? You already have a 328i, why get another one?
Not knowing that your current car has a in-line 6 because you understood the specs for the 2011 told you the 328i with the sport package had an I-6 so you assumed the 2010 had a V-6. BMW has never produced a V-6 engine for production vehicles; almost any car enthusiast knows that. I'd suspect you've never even looked under the hood of your current car, along with thinking BMW makes a V-6, I doubt you'd really appreciate the sport package. Most car enthusiasts buy the sport package. |

I would add that my car's ride improved after changing to non run-flats.
Maybe you can swap the sport suspension out if you don't like it? |

On the second part though, there's so much plastic cladding and coverings and crap that unless you specifically knew it was an Inline-6 under the hood, it'd be really hard to tell. The last BMW I popped the hood on was an E46 325i and it was pretty obvious. They've gone over the top these days with all this dumb plastic crap. When I popped the hood on my E93 on Saturday after picking the car up, I laughed because everything was covered and there was nothing really to see without starting to tear all of that junk off. Also, I don't think being an enthusiast means you automatically will go for the Sports package every time. If you happen to enjoy taking corners super fast then yes go for the Sports package, but there are plenty of other things to enjoy and be enthusiastic about with cars.
