Funny 335is Story at Drive Event
As some of you may know, I've been thinking about trading my 335is for an e92 M3. I went to my my local BMW dealer today for one of the Team USA drive events to collect the $1000 voucher and to possibly order my new M3. As soon as I pulled up at the dealer, two of the drive event staff came rushing over to my car, they said it was the first 335is they had seen and asked if they could take a look / sit inside. After driving a few cars, I went to collect my voucher and was having some idle conversation with another one of the drive event staff and mentioned that I was thinking about trading my 335is for an M3. He immediately exclaimed "What!? The 335is is one of my favorites, it's so unique!" He went on to say that he has only seen one other one on the road and explained how BMW supposedly only made between 4000 and 5000 of them total.
Needless to say, with all the attention that my 335is got, I did not place an order on a new M3. I think I need to sleep on it now |

Thats definitely cool, but a M3 w/ comp. package is still cooler.

The M3 is a great car, but I think the 335is with a chip and meth (400+ RWHP for less than $2Gs) is better for the uniqueness and insane power. It would be costly to get the M3 to those power levels (maybe except for no2).

A collectors car in my opinion. Only sold in NA and production being quite short the is is quite unique. I am not sure about that 5k number of cars though but still not many of them out there. + it looks unique without the fog lights and the nice sounding stock exhaust... o man if i were you i would keep it and if u really wanted a m3 wait for the new gen.

There is also something in the fact that the E9x M3 is and may be the only V8 M3 in that car's history.... not exactly low production numbers, but only 3-4 years of the coupe.
That being said, I ***LOVE*** the EDC in the M3... it actually rides awesome in comfort.. total daily driver. It'd pretty much stomp the IS in all practical categories if it weren't such a gas guzzler |

It's just really satisfying to know peoples' salaries have kept pace with the German car prices. |

My iS was an estimated $15k cheaper than a comparably equipped M3. The M3 would have increase my cost by about 25-30%.

I know what you mean. I don't get how people can compare prices with a fully loaded 335is to a base M3. Don't get me wrong I would love to own a M3 but it would have ran me close to $75,000+ compared to the $57,000 for the 335is I'm getting instead. Has everything except cold weather I grab the stand alone heated seats instead since I did not want the headlight washers.
