Look at the size of the intercooler. Puts out more HP than a AMG E55 with about a liter less displacement! BMW Engineering. 500HP on 91 pump gas, totally smooth and quiet.

yea.... and dont forget the S8...even though the 335 can beat it... you cant beat having a low 13 second luxury...and im mean luxury... beast!!
Audi honestly OWNS BMW when it comes to luxury performance....true luxury performance... not compariing 3 series to A4's... personally an A4 is better than any 3 series (besides 335) hands down with now question about it! |

A friend told me that his buddies Shelby 500 upgraded to 750hp got smoked by it. They tried it from a standstill, roll...the mustang just could not win |

Still, the B7 is rated at 4.8 sec 0-60 by BMW, which is probably conservative. So pretty quick for a big luxocruiser. And decent MPG too...15/23. Thats about the same MPG rating as my M3, but has 170 more horsepower, and weighs 1000lbs more, that is a pretty good accomplishment.

I see a big difference between this Alpina and the Mercs - The Mercs are much more mass production, while the Alpina is more specialty.
That Charge air cooler is mighty expensive compared to a Merc w/ plastic end tanks - also, the mercs are known to get high heat soak, with big gains by going with a larger aftermarket Charge air Cooler. You'd be able to run more boost as well. You also have to balance the rest of the cooling system - Alpina and some of these specialty tuning companies don't care about AC performance, as this front mounted heat exchanger reduces airflow and heats the inlet air to the condenser. Mercedes has targets to keep with their AC, so they most likely didn't go this route as well. To summarize, it isn't necessarily BMW engineering is better than Mercedes engineering.........it's a lot to do with cost and what they want out of the car. The technology is definitely there for both companies. I'll bet that the 5.5L Merc engine has gone thru much more R&D testing than that BMW, as it's in thousands of vehicles on the road with no issues. |

He showed the top of it. It actually sits right in the top there, but its very thick.
We got ours in black as well. It got sold 2 days later. My sales guy (Joe Cavero of Hassel) was the lucky guy who delivered it. Big props to him.. |

I not really a big fan of the bodywork on that car, but I've always loved those classic Alpina wheels

Audi W12 is no faster than a 750 and handles worse. I like the Audi but the Alpina is far from ugly. Plus it holds it value. The A8 resale is TERRIBLE.

the only thing I dislike about the B7 are those 21 inch rims.. look like SUV on one I saw on the street unless it was hydraulically raised at the time (does it even have that feature?)
