Getting your tired self out of bed in the morning

Many of us are high-functioning individuals whose daily responsibilities require significant energy and hard work. At the end of the day, your body needs rest.
So when you need that extra hour (or two or three) of sleep in the morning, how do you get yourself up?
- strong will?
- fear?
- a job requirement, whether you have to punch the clock or have certain managerial responsibilities?
- motivation for a certain goal or objective?
- a genuine love for life and the anticipation of having a great day?
- a love/hate relationship with your alarm clock?
- an alarm clock on the other side of the room?
- an aromatic alarm clock (haha or a gimmicky alarm clock)?
- your child or children waking you up?
- a natural feeling of responsibility?
- a dog that comes bursting into your room at 5am?
- a spouse or s/o that "pushes" you?
- a special diet?
- supplements that may regulate your sleep patterns?
- very early bedtimes or other sacrifices?
- experience from the school of hard knocks?
- potential embarrassment of showing up late to work (also see "fear," above!)
- a certain inspiration in your life, current or past?
- competitiveness?
- other??
- should I create a poll?

I don't know about you, but when my alarm goes off, I'm not in the state of mind to think about all those things. I just get up as instinct, and jump in the shower.

Get up same time every morning. After a week, it'll be a non-issue.

Commit an hr. each day to exercise, i.e. running, bball, soccer, swimming, etc. This will just help you fall asleep quickly and get the most out of your sleep.

Just get a regular schedule going. Once your body is used to sleeping around the same time every night, you'll go to sleep quicker, get much more energy from a given amount of sleep, and won't even need an alarm clock to wake up the same time each morning. This will also help on the nights that you may get only a few hours of sleep. Just take a quick nap in the middle of the next day and your body will rebound fully by the day after.

**Also, after a while, you can try giving up coffee. You'll find you don't really need it.

This. I keep bottled water by my bed and I usually have to pee first thing when I wake up.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

Snooze at 5:50, 6:00, 6:05, 6:10, 6:15, 6:20, 6:35 with the alarm clock on the other side of the room so i have to get up each time I decide to go back to bed. If I don't get up I have to deal with the annoying ass iPhone Alarm tone. It usually takes its toll 3-4 snoozes in.

But I recently found something better (for me at least) Wake up at 5:30 and go straight into the shower then back to sleep for 40-45 minutes and I usually wake up no problem at 6:30.

If you're waking up at 5:30 and sleeping for another hour till 6:30, does that mean you just walk-in the shower and then walk-out right after?

True but, that's when the troopers get in their spots on the highway.

Not around here. I spot 4 of them at the local diner every morning. Not nearly enough people on the roads to make it worth it for them. They get a good breakfast and then head out when traffic ramps up. People still speed like pigs on the tollway.

my wife does the same thing. it used to drive me freaking nuts because I can just get up whenever I need to. it took awhile but I've finally gotten used to it and sleep through most of the snooze alarms till the final one once she's about to get up and the dog really starts to bug me.

must piss first thing!
