Supercharger for 328?
Any updates on when something may be available? Considering getting a 328 Sprt Wagon, since they don't export the 335T, I am left with few options

like other people have said... if anything gets produced, it probably wont be made by americans... the rest of the world doesnt only get the 328/335 option.

it will happen eventually it will just take a while, i would look into the 3 stage intake manifold mod, and then once superchargers come out you can buy a 330i kit because many countries still get the 330 rather than the 335

I'm sorry for bringing this post back from the dead but I was one of the early buyers of the E90 and got a 330xi. Recently, a friend gave me a ride in his Subaru WRX STI and now my car feels like a minivan in comparison. I can't really return my car and get a 335 but am considering 2 options. 1. Supercharger, 2. Wait and never again sit in the Subaru hoping I forget. I haven't seen any really good solutions on superchargers for a 330 (even after doing search). Is there anyone out there that has added one. What are the reliability concerns in getting a supercharger. Does a new ECU has to be mapped? Is there anything else out there that I may consider? Thanks in advance for any replies.

When did you dump it, how many miles it had, and if you don't mind, how much did you loose in the transaction? I noticed you got a non all-wheel drive, have you tried it in the snow? One last, is it faster than the Subaru?

You can just do a lease takeover on your 330xi and lease takover on a 335i...I'm sure if you shop well, you can minimize the difference and not loose any money....just have a slightly higher payment. I was able to find a lease takeover on a 335i 6mt/sport/19" CSL Reps with 17K mostly freeway miles for $450 mo. Not bad for a $820mo. car if I would've leased a new one! The average lease takeover that i've seen in the for sale section is $666 mo.
BTW a 335i with piggyback should smoke most STI's out there on stock turbos...even the ones with upgraded turbos aren't pushing that much more RWHP. |

go with vortextech.. they have it or do it for u ... make u sure u can calculate how much ur engine is speed. Supercharger run on your CrankSpeed.. IT would be 1:1 Ratio on supercharger. The size of the supercharger base on ur engine speed remember that.

As for the Subies, which are you talking about? I've had several run ins with WRXs, those are EVERYWHERE here and not even a challenge. One guy had a WRX hatchback with a license plate "EVO ETR" . Haven't ran across an STI that wants to play yet, suprisingly and unfortunately....

For the price you pay for a stock WRX though, it is an aweful nice driving car; and it responds to mods very well. As a bonus, you don't feel as bad when you take it on a gravelly road for some fun.

i just sold my 3rd car to my brother. It was stage 2 power wise, but as far as handling goes i spend about $6k into it. Stoptech BBK, Ohlins (the best) struts and spring combo, rear+front sways, front and rear strut bars, you name it... In the end i could never find myself comfortable driving that car on 30+min drives. Even on the softest settings (Coilovers) the car was stiff, shook like mad when going over bumps and rough road. Although i had the quietest TBE (prodrive) the noise of the engine got on my nerves.

The WRX is NOT a luxury car, as you full well know, but it *is* damned fun to drive, even stock. And with a minimal investment (wheels, rubber, solid endlinks) the handling improves drastically. I found the handling very predictable and an awful lot of fun. It is a very good value for the money. My buddy calls it a go cart. I'm not sure what you expected when you put adjustable coilovers on it (btw, never heard of Ohlins), but when I did that, the ride got measurably worse. It sounds to me like you turned it into a track car, but then didn't like the way it rode/drove on trips. The two don't really work well together, that's why people tend to trailer thier cars to events ya know? I don't think you can make the car more comfortable by going aftermarket, only less comfortable. I guess it isn't for everyone. It is a pretty basic interior, doesn't have a lot of sound insulation and doesn't ride like a luxury car. |
